I don’t understand Americans obsession with the royal family.

combination of the Disney fairytale crap we were spoon fed as kids,
and this gross rise in the popularity of reality tv in the last generation.

the perfect storm of living vicariously.

released on this day in 1982.
my first foray into metal. I traded a cassette of "The Motels" for it with some kid in school, and never looked back.

a couple of fantastic deeper cuts

The creepy car insurance commercial with the singing hood ornament has me back into these guys. Quite underrated. I certainly didn't appreciate them enough back in the day.

I don’t ever recall seeing any of their videos when I was younger except West End Girls. It was nice seeing Dusty Springfield in What Have I.

after four fantastic records, I really thought this would have been their jumping off point.

They were nothing super special or anything but I always thought Fountains Of Wayne made nice little pop rock songs. Adam Schlesinger died just over a year ago due to Covid.

Was Trooper ever big in the States? At any rate, heard this classic on the weekend.

"Cool Story Bro" time.

my cousin's band was opening for Trooper at the 86 Street Music Hall back in the day, so i was hanging out backstage with them (eating and drinking Trooper's rider goodies).
time for the main event, so Trooper kicked us out of the area. I grabbed another beer and headed for the nearest exit, which happened to be the curtain to the stage.
The exact moment I step through, was when the guy from CFOX finishes saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Trooper!"

Massive applause from the audience, followed by massive confusion.
Of course I do an arms in the air "Woooooo!" before i find exit stage left.

ran into a girl during the show that I hadn't seen since elementary school, who was also confused as fuck.
good times.

these one might have made it internationally?

RIP Jim Steinman
you've heard his songs, you just may not know it.
if it had piano and was a massive overture, it was probably Jim

this one was a bit of a departure (great tune though)
