He could have lost parts of Florida and New York, too. I dont know how many die hards are willing to base their votes on a basketball player, though.

there are a few I'm sure...
but something tells me they aren't making it to the polls anyway

People say that, but nobody ever says Jordan wasn't the greatest b/c he had Pippen or Magic wasn't one of the greatest b/c he had Kareem.

A title is a title is a title. IMO, this line of thinking is overplayed and overstated.

I am not a basketball fan by any means but Jordan is Jordan. Gretzky was the best even with Messier. I dont know about Magic and Kareem though. They werent the best in their sport's history so I am sure having eachother on the same team helped their statiscal play.

Not many, but if you piss off just a few thousand Clevelanders who decide not to go to the polls, that could cost you. It's not how they vote as much as whether they show up.

I don't get pissed, but if Lebron had gone to Chicago, it could have lost him the next election. It will be close, Ohio is THE key state, and you're going to piss off the part of the state (NE Ohio) that supported you the most.

DUMB political move on his part.

I think that's a bit much. Anyone with a brain would realize Obama is just being a fan and wouldn't hold THAT against him. Jesus. Whether you support his politics or not. I can't imagine there is a large number of people that would actually vote someone they don't agree with politically into a position of power based solely on the fact the other guy likes a different basketball team. There will be some overly zealous morons like that, but not enough to cost him the election.

Exactly, those guys were the best on their team. But Jordan was never even close to a title without Pippen. The fact is in any sport, NOBODY does it on their own... except golfers... oh, and race car drivers. Okay... in any TEAM sport. :)

True. How many Chigagites would vote for him sinc he got LeBron in Chicago?

As close as the last few have been, I don't doubt it at all. Ohio has been won and least recently by a few thousand votes. African Americans generally have a low voter turnout but came out in high numbers in the last election. If 3,000 or 4,000 don't show up b/c they're annoyed at him (and let's face it, the economy sucks and that keeps people at home as it is), there is no sense putting more on the fire.

I love poker, but poker falls under the E category in ESPN.

Agree on all points.

Speaking of which, anyone play on Full Tilt? I was doing really well in a tournament tonight and then the connection just got lost. Pretty annoyed.

WHAT?!?!?!

Not the year he carried a terrible team to the Finals? Not the time he beat Detroit by scoring like 20 straight points for his team in the 4th and OT to win the game?

You have to be joking. He didn't have his best year this season, but the guy has been phenomenal over the years.

The Orlando series last year and the Boston series this season. He looked unmotivated and became frustrated easily.

Obama won Ohio by 262,000+ votes in the 08 election. I have a hard time believing there are 262,000 people in Ohio that are -- I'll say it -- retarded enough to not vote for someone they agree with politically because he likes another basketball team. I have a little more faith in the human race than that.

Yes, but that was as the challenger to the incumbent party in a bad economy. Now he'll be the incumbent in a bad economy (barring a minor miracle on the economic front). Look, I'm not saying he WILL or WOULD lose the election because of it. But as tight as the Presidential races have been in recent decades, I think it's dumb for him to chance it. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Nope, not as his best, but they're only a small measure of the playoff series Lebron has been a part of.

His career playoff averages are 29.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 7.3 apg. That's fairly stellar.

I must admit, after watching some of this reaction coverage, I'm not hating LeBron as much as I thought I would.
