Good get for the Bucs.

Rodriguez is fair value. He's got some upside, but lots of questions. I think it's a good play by RAJ, honestly. Get a little more money off the books, bring in a kid who may never make it, but if he does, will win you this trade in the long run. There's talent there if he puts it together.

For the Bucs, they dealt for a need from depth, and they went a decent way down the depth to do it, holding onto their ace-upside guys like Taillon, Glasnow, and Sampson, as well as their almost-sure-thing innings-eater Kingham, and their Major-League-ready depth starters Worley, Cumpton, and Locke, and moving down into talented-but-uncertain territory. Gave up a good prospect, but one who was down their depth chart.

The guy hasn't produced beyond A ball, struggled quite a bit in AA. #33 prospect in the system. There's a chance he makes it to the bigs, but I'd be a bit surprised, simply based on what I've read.

Yup, I would be, too. He's a high-risk asset. But high risk assets are what you get for middle relievers, and now the Phillies have a bit more money to play with as well. I think it's a good risk for the Phillies to take, too. Good move for both teams.

He gives the Bucs more ass-ets too, which is never a bad thing

Moves going down all over the place at the Winter Meetings. Dodgers will look completely different, Cespedes swapped for Porcello, Astros bulking up their bullpen, Mets re-signing Scott Rice, I mean it's getting nuts.

Gonzaga looked pretty good last night beating up Wazzu, although I think last night was the first time Pangos has been held off the scoresheet in his time at Gonzaga.

Also read the Marlins might be getting Justin Morneau and or Mat Latos

Why didn't they just keep Billy Butler then?

Morales and Butler yield similar offensive value, but in different ways. Probably a small reshaping of their offensive philosophy.
