I find this hard to believe:

Its not like he's yelled at little kids wanting his autograph or....
I don't know whether he has changed or matured (do he and Leo still call their group the pussy posse?lol) but the stories were he used to be a real jerk to fans, waiters, press etc. I dont remember hearing it he was difficult to work with.

I always thought he was a great actor......

I watched The King Of Staten Island tonight. Like most Apatow movies it may be too long but I liked it. Bill Burr is a pretty good actor. Pete Davidson was pretty solid too. Then you have Steve Buscemi and Marisa Tomei classing the place up.

Strange plot and subject matter for Davidson to revisit.....

I thought a movie was in the works. Didn't know it was a series and coming on so soon! Loved the book and liked its sequel "Us Against Them". Good stuff!

I watched Kong Skull Island today. Its probably in my top ten Kong movies.
Kind of a mixed bag that one. Looked gorgeous, especially the scene when we first meet Kong (outside of the prologue), but some of the stuff with John C Riley's character was pretty meh.

I am going to post way too much about Kong movies but the original was one of my favorite movies growing up and still might be in my top ten.

Kong:Skull Island looked really good, especially compared to Peter Jackson's movie. In that one the New York stuff looked great (mostly) but the island stuff looked horrible - like people walking in place while the background moved. This one the scenery was real (mostly) and it helped. The effects overall looked good.

After a nice set-up I thought this kind of dragged. Samuel was angry. Brie and Tom were dull. I get what you're saying about John C but I thought he lightened the movie up, and the group that met him, Brie and Tom etc got a lot more personality after his introduction. He seems out of place though, I wonder if he was added in reshoots or if his role was expanded in reshoots.

By the time is was over I thought it was silly but I didn't hate it.

Great cast. Richard Jenkins for 2 minutes? Nice.

Top Kong women IMO:
Jessica Lange (when I was 7 my parents took me to see the 76 version because how much I liked the original- first time I remember being transfixed by an actress- long before I had any interest in girls. My parents thought they were treating me to Kong but instead I crushed on Dwan, then probably forgot about women for 6 years or so.
I still like her when I see the movie. I still like her now. Kinda.

Fay Wray - she's beautiful, when I see the original now I still love her
Brie Larson - I love her, very pretty and a great actress (Room!)
Naomi Watts - she's from a penile* colony but I try not to not that against her. She's lovely and was great in her version

*Dash probably has an alert on penile - hi Dash!

I'm a bit of a Kong fanatic myself, so you can't go into too much detail for me.

I think Peter Jackson acknowledged as much that the island scenes didn't always work because they kinda ran out of time, especially calling himself out for the dinosaur stampede where you could tell they were just running in front of a bad green screen. They had spent a ton of time and money on Kong himself (who looked and moved amazingly of course because of Andy Serkis) and digitally recreating NYC from the 30s, and just weren't able to get to some of the others.

Objectively, the 76 version is still the worst, IMO of the major Kong releases. Jessica Lange looked amazing, but the crappy combination of the large mechanical head and arms with the regular guy-in-suit stuff was just cringe-worthy at times. And ditching the Empire State Building was an unforgivable sin.

For the new one, I think both Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston are both excellent in most things they do, but that both were a little wasted in this. A movie about Kong doesn't need so many heavy hitters on the human side because Kong is the star. Then you've got Samuel L Jackson, John Goodman, John C Riley (amazing actor even if I felt his part was unnecessary), Hiddleston, and Larson, plus a massively under-appreciated Shea Whigham. Giving Kong and the island the appropriate screen time pretty much ensured that at least someone in that cast gets lost.

But the shot of the helicopters approaching Kong who is back-lit by the sun is still one of my favorite visuals from a movie in the last few years.

I am still eagerly counting down the days until Godzilla v Kong hitting HBO max. Ready to crank up the sound on the home theater to dangerous levels for that one.

Whigham was good in what he had to do, he's usually good in everything. Lol, I felt bad his sacrifice in this didn't work at all.

What a mess the 76 version was! Hydraulic arms, obvious man in an ape suit, Charles Grodin lol.

I thought the Jackson version was really good overall in spite of the effects. I was a bit underwhelmed though. I haven't seen it since I did in the theater so maybe I should re-watch it.

Overall I view Skull Island as more of a popcorn movie so maybe I am more forgiving of its flaws than the others. Halfway through the movie I was amused because I thought Hiddleston and Larson were getting good salaries (probably) and were pretty much ensemble actors. They did more of the heavy lifting in the 2nd half. This was a pretty movie. I even like the slightly subtle way the tree got the first chopper.

And I to will be watching Godzilla VS Kong as soon as I can.

Concering the Godzilla vs Kong movie

For once if I don't get the cliche good guys fight each other and then team up to save the world story I'll lose.it ... I love them both (Godzilla more by a tail) and don't want either losing... The new Godzilla movies are terribly flawed but man do I absolutely love them ...
