Watched Soul last night and it looks like that won the xmas day blockbuster battle. Kids tapped out ... but there was more adult crying to finish off the day

No Disney+ for me so I had no option, but I think you made the right choice.

Watched the new Wonder Woman on HBO Max last night.

No spoilers obviously, but it was terrible. Like really terrible. Plot holes galore, scenes that had no narrative connection to the rest of the movie, about as subtle as a lobotomy, mediocre CGI, and about 45 minutes too long.

I don't think it was terrible but I don't think it was good either. Really goofy story, way too long, not enough action, not enough fun. The action sequences, for the most part, were good just not enough of them.

One of the complaints about the original Hulk movie could be made here too. In fact one shot reminded me of that movie.

I know "fun" is not a measurable thing but for me most of the DC movies have not been fun, and above all super hero movies should be fun. The first WW was, this one was not.

Pretty much agree with this. I thought a lot of the pacing felt strange, it was a bit jumbled. Had some decent elements but fell short in plenty of others.

Gadot is fun to look at and good in the role, she was fine.

I'm not sure of the powers WW has in the comics but they were pretty huge here, almost unbeatable. Harder to make that interesting.

Her flying reminded me of Hulk jump-flying in Ang Lee's movie. Goofy, though I don't know if she flies in the comics.

Why bring Steve back to kill him off again? Also as soon as you knew he was inhabiting someone else's body, you knew it couldn't last.

Not a very satisfying climax but I wonder if they would have switched the order of the Max confrontation and Cheetah battle if it would have been better...

I can see that. I like him but thought he was way over the top. His material in particular was goofy IMO so he did not have that much to work with.

Similar - I thought Jesse Eisenberg was a bright spot in a bad Batman VS Superman movie and many people hated him. I can see that too

We are running out of stuff to watch and have been watching Hulu's The Hardy Boys. Not too bad

The Shield always sounded good I just never watched it for some reason. SOA and Mayan MC never sounded good to me but so many people I know like them so I should give them all a chance.

I'll probably get Disney+ and try Mandalorian in the next week too.

He's already got one of those. And a Golden Globe, both for The Social Network, and an Emmy for Watchmen.

I don't know when he started, but I remember him doing the soundtrack for Lost Highway in the mid-90s too, though that is admittedly much more in line with what you'd expect style-wise.

He's a weird dude, but crazy talented.
