Our boys just lost to, wait for it...Martinique. A French owned island with a population under 420 thousand people, who are not even an official member of FIFA

The CSA are finding a whole new level of failure to sink to. It's impressive really.

It was not a good game from Canada, but I think they brought a new team with young players to try and build for the future. Still though, Martinique...ouch.

Exactly. I don't care how young they are, they just lost to a 3rd world island for fuck sakes :L

Any Canadian soccer post, even about the mens squad... should include a sentence of how good Christine Sinclair is...

Soccer is one of the sports I would rather watch the women play... they seem to be tougher than the men...

It comes down to this really. The 'Canadian Soccer Association' is nothing more than a criminal enterprise, posing as a sporting body. They steal government and taxpayer money and use it so their members can hobnob with FIFA delegates around the world.

I thought this was a requirement for CONCACAF membership? :noidea:

I think the way they lost was epic. Canada tries to clear the balll from their box & the ball goes right to an opposing player who shoots & scores during extra time. When the ball was put back in play the referee blew his whistle to end the game.:laugh3:

Maybe Vancouver Island should field our own team!?!

Only to be on the safe side. I'm not so sure Salt Spring Island with residents Randy Bachman and Valdy in the back four go down to Martinique. :L

I make this argument often: the women's game is supremely more entertaining.

this was horrible dont get me wrong but 8-1 to Honduras was rock bottom ... they got a interim coaching staff and young players going through the motions right now and Id say 2/3rds of those young players who play in europe would rather be training with their domestic clubs for the upcoming season trying to win a spot there

also ... when you bring players from Toronto FC can you really expect to win anything?

I agree with jstew, there may be more goals scored in the women's game, but it doesn't mean the game is more entertaining and as far as skill level is concerned, there's still way too much booting the ball down the field and chasing it in the women's game (not as much with the USA, but still prevalent with Canada).

This!

/maybe we need more accountants and truck drivers like Tahiti :noidea:

Oh I agree... the talent level of the men worldwide compared to women worldwide is not even close... yet. Which accounts for the higher scoring games... but two talented female squads do put on a good match... but, however, I was not comparing talent levels.. I was comparing toughness... women (for the most part) don't flop at every chance they get... perhaps it's subconscious, trying to 'prove' they are as tough as men... but whatever it is, the women don't flop as much.

I agree, the women's game is definitely refreshing from that standpoint.

have you seen the french, portuguese, italian and most of all brazilian women play? mens and womens world soccer "stereotypes" have become pretty much identical ... especially after last womens olympics

frankly I think this "womens soccer is better" opinion has emerged because not enough americans pay attention to the not as dominant (yet) US mens soccer team because they dive as much as the US WNT ... which is very little

btw ... can we please have your MNT

/and btw ... didnt even watch the game v martinique yesterday ... was planning on going to watch in Seattle v Mexico Thursday night with bro and bro-in-law ... we've decided against it now
