jstew... my knowledge of the current soccer world compared to you is like my daughter's (she's 2) knowledge of driving compared to me... I played soccer for 18 yrs so I understand the game... but you should probably just ignore me... we aren't on the same level at all... I watch the world cup, the Olympics and a at times, random games I can catch... I like to watch Messi (for club teams).. but I watch more the national games (men and women).

this was horrible dont get me wrong but 8-1 to Honduras was rock bottom ... they got a interim coaching staff and young players going through the motions right now and Id say 2/3rds of those young players who play in europe would rather be training with their domestic clubs for the upcoming season trying to win a spot there

also ... when you bring players from Toronto FC can you really expect to win anything?

This was just their 1st game. They haven't played Panama or Mexico yet. It's going to get worse.

It's not a prettier version of the game. It's like the shootout in the NHL...done to draw in casual fans. For someone who doesn't like soccer, the women's game is more fun to watch. It's faster moving, more offense. The defense/schemes are not nearly as good...no question. The Men's game is the beautiful game. But to sit and watch, the open play of the women's game is more entertaining. The talent level isn't nearly the same, for certain.

I wonder if that's more than Martinique. Martinique isn't even recognized by FIFA.:D:

Um ... No its not ... Nice try though

Martinique isnt recognized as a nation because they are a branch of the FFF

Martinique has a pro domestic league that has existed since 1919. Currently 14 pro teams all coached by guys with A licences

Btw canada doesnt have its own pro domestic league

And please dont bring up the MLS ... Not when cdn players who play on US based teams are classified as international players

The game against Mexico is going to be interesting because Mexico's head coach is under an incredible amount of pressure. His team has had a very difficult time scoring goals. He's basically in MUST WIN mode. I expect a blowout. However, I hope Canada can pull off a shocker.

Is Ian Hume still playing for Canada? He usually makes an impact in these games.

/If the lads could hold Mexico to a nil-nil draw, that would be something.

If you want pretty, watch the Champion's League final this year. Bayern vs Borussia Dortmund. THAT was pretty.

I will never understand people who do not like this game. It's amazing.

Barcelona plays pretty soccer. It's actually entertaining & I've never liked soccer. However, watching the other team try to get the ball away from Barcelona can be funny. They don't even stop the ball most of the time. They just one touch pass it to one another.

Barcelona is definitely fun to watch. I'm not a huge fan of La Liga though, way too much diving for me.

I like the Premier League the best, it's a little more rough and tumble.

That was a damned entertaining game. I like the Bundasliga style of play much better than what you see in La Liga or EPL. Much more direct, but not in the dump and chase style that is seen a lot in the women's game. But the objective is always to move the ball forward into scoring position rather than passing all over the field and trying to score pretty goals.

all the peeps talking about speed should really give MLS a shot ... if this league was a stock Id be buying (afterall Chilean and Brazilian billionaires are)

Im really growing to like the league, frenetic pace, guys run all day long ... technical skill is the only thing that is below euro standards but i think in 10 years its gonna be something super special ... american players are really improving
