I mean, you have to be living under a rock to not realize that travelling through airports these days is not exactly a smooth process. Yet people still continue to do it and entitled former NHL players continue to whine about it.

I'm no fan of Air Canada either, but they laid off a bunch of people during the pandemic (after taking a bunch of pandemic money from the government) and they're currently running a very lean operation. I understand the frustration of travelers, but in most cases, these are situations that are out of the control of the people at the service desk.

Have JR get back to me when he's flown with a budget airline that's basically Asia's equivalent of Ryanair.

i was on a business trip in china a lot of years ago, and they kind of had a dual service sector.
private run businesses were fine, but the state run facilities - employees could utterly not give a shit.
state run hotels, if the guy working didn't feel like getting up to give you a room, well, you didn't get a room.

i flew on an airline (i think it was shandong airlines) where every stewardess was drop dead gorgeous, they greeted you with jasmine scented fans, food and drink was amazing, new planes, just a lovely way to travel.
another segment of the trip was either Air China or China Air, I forget which. It was the state airline, and the indifference was palpable. the service, the maintenance, everything. Planes hadn't been refurbished since the 70's it seems, and food I can only assume was leftover from the prisons.

So you're saying it's like flying any of the US airlines now? :thumb:

Nowadays the full service Asian and Middle Eastern airlines are definitely the eay to go. Thai, Cathay, JAL, etc. I miss those ones.

But the one that I flew with (don't remember the name) a few years back...oh man, it made the backseat of a Mini Cooper seem spacious.

It was out of my own pocket which is why I did it, but I should have ponies up the extra $ to go with Singapore.

I'm probably jinxing this considering I have two long-haul flights with AC booked for the next few months but I'm probably the only person around who's never had a problem with AC.

Westjet on the other hand...

The Airlines run overbooked at the best of times, so even if everything goes perfectly they have a percentage of people angry at them.

It's pretty rare for everything to run perfectly and it's hard to feel any pity for an industry whose entire business model is built on hope. I've had some decent experience with some airlines but none of them have had anything to do with anything but luck was with me that day. It has nothing to do with the airline. I have had better experiences with Allegiant than I had with Delta. It's all a coin flip.

And airports themselves are a whole other level of luck of the draw.

Except Dulles Dulles fucking sucks every time.
