I had a friend growing up that was big into mailing musicians/teams etc saying he was a fan and asking for stuff. One summer we mailed most of the NFL teams and got cool fan kits with stickers and pictures. Coke sent an really cool packet.

We also mailed Peter Wolf who responded......5 or 6 years later. I was about 18 or 19 and wondering who sent me a letter - a short hand written in marker letter. It was Peter Wolf.

And I just found out this friend died this morning after being hit by a car.
We grew apart, I probably had not seen him for 10 years or so but still kind of shocking.

I happened to find myself in Morehead* City, NC on Thanksgiving. There was one actual restaurant (using the term loosely) that was open with an overflowing parking lot or McDonald's. Even the Taco Bell was closed, so we ate McD's for Thanksgiving while GF sipped from a 12 year old reserve Tullamore Dew. It was amazing.

* - I know that name sounds like an early James Bond heroine name, but it's a real place.

I believe Morehead State University was on my shortlist before choosing McMaster(bator).
