The point of this exercise was to point out what teams have gone the longest without playing a team in a power conference. There are only 5 power conferences now and the big east isn't one, but it was during that time frame wasn't it?

It was more or less justifying the need to spell out a requirement for their conference members when the assumption for many is most of them have one every year anyway.

I'm sure it will come up again, but many will argue that picking Colorado as an OOC game isn't any better than shirtsvskins state.

Granted back then, the Big East was more deserving of being considered a power conference than say the ACC who only had 3 BCS wins before this past season.

Article is accurate in what it stated was its criteria. There is an argument to include the Big East, but they did not seem to think so. Just is what it is.

Did you click the link provided? aTm hasn't played a power team in OOC since '03. A full decade of garbage play. They are the only ones on that list with that much time. Baylor is next at '09 and the rest are either '10 or '11. Colorado and Utah have better excuses both because they suck these days and have no incentive to have more give away games and their inclusion to the Pac was recent. There is literally no excuse for aTm to go a full decade without a decent OOC game. None.

Not true last team A&M played in a power conference was Miami (FL) in '08 before that A&M played Clemson in '05.

So games against Big East in 2011 shoulndnt count? teams like 10-3 Cinici, 10-3 West Virginia, 9-4 Rutgers?
Pitt, Louisville, Syracuse?

I corrected him that it was Texas Tech that had gone a decade without playing, not aTm

If you play NINE CONFERENCE games, you get a little bit more slack.

That 9th game is already a power 5 team.

But, playing in an 8 conference game league it is embarassing to make the other 4 games cupcake non-AQ teams.

I would rather see CFB go back to a 10 or 11 game schedule than to see 3-4 fluff teams a year per power team. It's insane to me that we are at this point. I see no reason to ever allow a power team to play more than one OOC game outside of the power conferences. Period.

No.. read the article and send your complaints to the author. 13-0 Utah didnt count either back in the day. BSU never counts. Undefeated Tulane. Arbitrary cut off is arbitrary, I get it.

My guess is Notre Dame doesn't count either
