Firstly: I don't trust a radio guy in Pittsburgh (not a sports radio guy, btw) to have solid sources. There have been some guys not disputing his candidacy (Dreger), but I hesitate to believe them. It has absolutely nothing to do with my dislike of the man and everything to do with his lack of experience. His resume is dated and poor. He was a coach for ONE year, assistant GM for ONE year, scout for TWO. All of these things being 15+ years ago (I think?). That's not a good resume for a GM. Not with so many better options out there (Briesbrois, Maciver, Fenton, Gorton, even Botterill).

Yeah, there's no reason for McGuire to be the GM. Too many other guys who actually would know what they're doing.

But I would be alright with trading away Fleury and signing Miller.

Not if Miller expects to make more than MAF currently does.

"If Pierre gets the job there's a good chance I change teams. Not because I hate Pierre, although I greatly dislike the man, but because to me that screams of ownership getting their buddy a job. That and the man isn't qualified for the job. I still contend that it's codswallop."

I said this...still mostly mean it.

Sorry I just assumed that would not give him more than 5 million. Heck he probably could be had for less if there is no demand.

He was the leading scorer in the Finnish League this series, we'll see who he signs with in the NHL:

The problem is that Ryan Miller probably wants to be close to his wife, which takes away some options - if it wasn't for that, Winnipeg would be an obvious place - he's way better than Ondrej Pavelec

Phoenix is close to LA.

Pierre likes Torts, right?

But how many of those guys know where EVERY player played Pee Wee? NONE

According to Sportsnet’s Damien Cox, the iconic commentator is close to signing a deal with Rogers. In November, Rogers struck a 12-year national broadcast deal with the NHL that begins next season. The deal includes editorial control over CBC’s weekly Hockey Night in Canada programming. The telecom company also owns Sportsnet.
