I thought you said he'd be one of the guys leaving?

Nope, at least I don't think I said it.

Umberger has requested out. Boll will likely be bought out if not traded.

Nikitin, Skille, Comeau, Mackenzie, McIlhenney and Schultz are all UFA. DMac and Skille played well enough down the stretch to earn contracts to stay if they wish, and Derek has said he wants to stay. Could probably have earned himself a modest raise too. 1.5ish, I'd imagine.

This makes me yearn for the days of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement

/what, no knifed it?

Gary Thorne got a gig doing play by play for the Baltimore Orioles. Right around the time I moved away.

I love Gary Thorne. Him and Tom Mees are (were) as good as it gets down here in the states.

Speaking of the O's, looks like Chris Davis found his sweet stroke again (3 dingers in last night's game)

Yep. My cousin's facebook status today:
"I put a Chris Davis jersey on my dog, now he won't stop leaving the yard."

Maatta's timeline to return likely to be about 4 months but exact prognosis won't be known until after surgery is performed.

Just...eff. EFF. Gosh this is frustrating. Pouliot news sucked enough, but losing Maatta for 4 months sucks. I'm pretttttty sure Pouliot would've made the team out of camp too. Pouliot was darn close this year to making it.

If there's an upside, pix it's that Ryan Murray had shoulder surgery and I think it actually improved his wrist shot and stick handling.

Olli's young, he should rebound.

I'm wondering how long this has been an issue, because there was a distinct drop in his play (from AWESOME to good) in about the final month or so of the season. It blended with the team's play of course. Olli will rebound, I"m sure of it...just wondering what the issue is. Considering they've said they won't know until they go in, which makes me think labrum. Heck, pretty much any time a hockey player goes in for shoulder surgery I think labrum. Hockey players aren't going to tear their RC. May be a separated shoulder too, but those are tougher to play through.

EDIT: What was Murray's, btw? If a guy has a capsular tightening that'll definitely help the shot. Basically tightens up a loose joint. Dangerous surgery for athletes though, not too common.
