How about a puck for every player with their name on it, but the goal only counts if you score with your own puck. Drop 10 pucks in the faceoff circle and then sort it out from there. First legit goal wins!

I have been thinking about this a lot today. How about if a player scores a goal and it's not his pick then he has to leave the ice?

Another idea I had, when a power play is interupted by a intermission, have the face off in the offensive zone of the team on the power play.

I like this.

I'd like to see a PP extend the end of the period/game, unfettered.

I like this too.

Should we make penalties more punitive by not allowing the shorthanded team to ice the puck?

And this. Damn, SportsHoopla thinking caps are out in force today.

I always though that if a team scored shorthanded, they should get their guy back. To encourage aggressive kills.

Here is a great idea that would work well to help decide more games before the shootout. If you are a clear thinking individual you will agree. Two pucks in play in OT. Or the DP OT for short. 5 on 5 but with two pucks. Sure you could be really aggressive and try to score but that might leave your goalie exposed for a breakaway with the other puck! Both teams may score at virtually the same time at times! Think about it, occasionally they may have to review the plays to see which puck crosses the goal line first! Wow!

I am going to print up some shirts for the ice girls that say "I Love DPs!" to gain momentum for this wonderful idea.

And to make it even better, do not announce the ten names being dropped ahead of time so the players will look at all the pucks and then call for a line change if none are theirs.

I have always been of the mind that they should serve the FULL 2 mins regardless of a goal being scored.

Congratulations to the Sabres on being the first team to clinch a tee-time for this post-season.

Not like anyone thought they were coming back, but last night's loss to Montreal mathematically eliminated them. They are now a full 30 points back of the last wild-card berth (and an unreal 49 back of Boston who leads the division) with only 14 games to play.

So, Ekblad or Reinhart? Maybe Sam Bennett?

Edit: Clash of the Titans (Sabres vs. Flames) Tuesday night in Calgary.

As things stand now, I'd say Reinhart.

The Sabres need help everywhere obviously, but I think a center is a bigger need right now than D. They've got 3 NHL caliber centers in Hodgson, Ennis, and Girgensons, but they're all 2nd liners at best. If they could bring in Reinhart this year and hopefully win the Connor McDavid sweeps next year, they could be absolutely stacked down the middle.

They also drafted heavily on D last year and I think both Zadorov and Ristolainen are going to be really good in a couple more years.

And depending on whether NYI exercise their option to defer and how STL does in the POs/re-signing Miller, the Sabres could have 3 1st rounders, including 2 lottery picks (if NYI doesn't defer). If it ends up that way, I'd like to see them go Reinhart and then a guy like Dal Colle before looking to the wing again or going D with STL's pick.

On the other hand, if NYI defer, they'll have a guaranteed 3 1st rounders in next year's draft which would be amazing.

Who are you hoping to see in a Flames jersey next year assuming they hold somewhere in the 2-5 pick range?

I have a feeling the Flames will end up with either the 4th or 5th pick which likely means Ekblad, Reinhart, and Bennett will be off the board. I guess that leaves either Dal Colle or Draisaitl and I'd prefer Dal Colle. Draisaitl didn't impress me that much at the WJHC, but he did put up 105 points this season in the Dub.

They're only 4 points "back" of the Oilers for the 2nd pick, and you never know how those lottery balls will work out. Hopefully they could move into the top 3.

Actually, I'll take picking 4th or 5th this year if it means moving up to 1st or 2nd for next year's draft.

I'll give you 2nd next year, but I'm thinking the Sabres are still the odds-on favo(u)rites for the Connor McDavid sweeps.

Is it possible Hockey Hall of Famer Glen Sather, 70, may be thinking of retiring as a general manager if the New York Rangers make the playoffs this season? I’ve heard that. There was no response to a recent inquiry by me from Sather. If true, the Oilers can get his banner raised next season. The Oilers have put off a ceremony because Sather, the first member of the Oilers’ organization to make the HHOF in 1997, has been a GM with another team.

Possibly his last season? I guess this mean Jeff Gorton may be the man in charge, I like Gorton. But we'll see what happens.
