Interesting. Not Quick, Lundqvist, Crawford, Fleury, or Niemi.

BTW, three of those guys have less than 1000 saves and 26 or less starts so I don't know if it's fair or not that those guys should be on the list - the more shots you face, the better chance the save percentage is going to be lower

25 games played is a pretty decent mile marker, especially for a starting goalie at this point in the season.

I dunno, with what 15-16 games left in the season, they would barely play half the games if they were to play every single game from here on out

John Tavares is a great guy!!

A Winnipeg Sun story about an 11-year-old hockey fan who was taunted at a Jets game last week has struck a chord with NHL star John Tavares of the New York Islanders.

Jake Lotocki is an Islanders fan who attended last Tuesday’s Winnipeg-New York game wearing his Tavares jersey.

But the experience turned ugly when he was jeered by several fans after the game, one getting in his face and yelling, ‘You suck! Go home, loser!”

Tavares, in Toronto rehabbing from a season-ending knee injury, read the story soon after it was posted online at winnipegsun.com, Monday night.

25 games is enough to weed out statistical flukes like pre-rule change Victor Fasth.

Yeah I know, and I agree, but I'm just comparing those guys to the Tuukka Rask's and Semyon Varlamov's of the world - like for example, Josh Harding is on that list but he hasn't played in a few months now

I dont know about this ... i wouldnt count 25 games as statistical flukes ... just too small a sample size imo ... hard to say if the numbers of Scrivens and Khudobin are sustainable with more games/more pressure/less rest (in eddie lacks case - no more psychologically knowing a Luongo is there if you shit the bed)

went on hockey reference and saw there have been 29 player/seasons of goalies with a .920 save% or higher since 2005-2006

set the criteria at 40 games played or higher

the lowest games played by a goalie of the 29 player/seasons with a .920 or better was 58 games played

I don't think it is a fluke, but as you said, it's just too small of a sample size that's all

In the context of a single season, 25 games, approx a third of a season is enough.

Over two or more seasons, 25 is not enough.

My point was to illustrate that of the "elite" teams with the highest number of wins or teams with goalies that are supposedly "carrying" them, only Rask is in the top ten in the most pure measure of a goalie's efficiency.

And it shows just how alone Miller was in Buffalo.

I hope to see Joni Ortio on that list one day, still has some work to do, but he's only 22 and already he looks better than Reto Berra.

/He actually looks a little like Kipper between the pipes, if he can give the Flames that type of goaltending, I'll be very pleased.
