Can't say we all didn't see this coming. Team is going nowhere fast, he doesn't want to be there.

I guess the only enticing thing would be to play with tavares in brooklyn, that would be kind of neat. but I think its more he just wants to be in Minnesota. I really see that happening

Minnesota is where he wants to be. Would you rather play with your best friend Pominville, along with Parise, Koivu, Suter, Coyle and others? Or have your career waste with just Tavares? lol Pretty easy choice for him to make.

Nik Zherdev was released from Severstal in the KHL. From fourth overall in the NHL draft to a release and free agency in Russia.

This is his fourth time being released in the KHL lol :L

CANADIENS TRADE D DIAZ TO CANUCKS FOR F WEISE

The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Raphael Diaz to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Dale Weise.
In 44 games with the Canucks during the 2013-14 season, Weise has three goals and nine assists.
"A young veteran with 162 games of experience at the NHL level, Dale Weise is a winger with a physical style of play who brings additional toughness and grit to our group of forwards," said Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin.
In 46 games with the Canadiens this season, Diaz has produced 11 assists.

Weise is actually a solid addition to the 4th line for them. With RH PMD man like Markov and Subban, it makes Diaz expandable.

I don't think that he'd be wasting his career by staying...not at all. He and JT would light it up.

Just because Diaz is expendable doesn't mean you trade him for a crappy 4th liner - defensemen are valuable in this league and you can't give them away even if you have an abundance

The Habs already have enough types of guys on the 4th line like Dale Weise - they could have gotten more

Have you seen Diaz play this year, or even a lot of last? I might not have given up on him so fast, but Diaz worked himself out of the lineup and I dont know when he was going to get back in. I doubt great offers would have come pouring in.

Pretty hollow apology from Torts today in Detroit, in my opinion. Listen, I know you have a long standing feud with Hartley, but you could have at least mentioned the Flames in name rather than a generic call-out to the league.

Edit: Here's the footage, you be the judge.

Honestly, you're not giving enough credit to Weise. He's actually a really good 4th line player. He's been pretty solid since going to Vancouver. And a 4th liner I would take on the Rangers right now.

Habs needed meat. Weise is meat.
Sestito is taking more of the 4th line ice time than was anticipated, and Lain may take some of those minutes.
Dutch Gretzky lost his spot, much like Diaz seemed to have in Mtl. Nucks needed defensive depth, so it seems to be decent for both teams.
