I want this deal signed because I could see the Flames going crazy if Kessel became a UFA.

As true as that sentence may be, I don't think this was one of those cases.

In order for this rule to go in, the players association had to vote for it as well. If the players think it's a good rule, that's pretty telling, IMO.

I think the only 2 NAY votes were cast by the sedins ... the new rule kills their "shoot-the-puck-down-the-ice-while-your-evil-twin-telepathically-knows-you-youre-about-to-do-it-and-gets-there-first" move ... already happened once in pre-season v the sharks
