That dynamic d man is what's keeping Toronto from taking that next step and becoming a constant Cup contender. Subban certainly would bring that dynamic. I figure Nylander, a 2019 1st and Liljegren for Subban.

As much as I love PK, I would not do that deal. Another 3 years at $9M per will be an issue for the Leafs going forward. Trading Nylander only makes sense if it provides cap space to comfortably sign Matthews and Marner. To do that means taking back contracts totalling (at most) $6 - 7M.

PK has many admirable qualities and skills. In most markets, he is worth it just as the face of the franchise. Toronto does not need that aspect. On the ice, most would consider his Norris trophy as a bit of an asterisk (see Carlyle back in the day). He can be a distraction on the ice, and can be risky with his choices.

Not sure the deal makes sense to Nashville either. If they consider moving PK, they need immediate help. A future late round 1st plus a 19 year old Liljegren dont provide any. They would need NHL roster players.
