Yeah, still to much for O'reilly. As to Mcdavid, he signed his deal, let's see how he pans out and if he's the next Crosby or the next Daigle. I think he comes somewhere in between.

That's a pretty daring prediction there! I am going to mark this post so I can bring up back to throw it in your face if you are wrong!

Im not so sure its daring at all. I dont think he will be the next Daigle but I dont think he will be crosby level, the reason I say this is I believe alot more players are coming along that are learning to deal more with the superstar players and the coaching is becoming better as well, I also do believe however that Jack Eichel will be a better all around player over his career.

I was just being a sarcastic ass. There's a huge area between Crosby and Daigle and I think its pretty much a given McDavid will somewhere in between the two.

I made the comparison to Daigle because Daigle was heavily hyped as well and he busted. With Mcdavid I think he'll be better than Daigle and probably be comparable to Joe Thornton.

Nazem Kadri signed a 1 year, 4.1 million dollar contract with the Leafs.

Can yoou imagine teams tanking an entire season to get Joe Thornton??

Kinda funny in hindsight.

Very much a "prove it" contract.
Two years of RFA left after this season.

Agreed. I am not nearly as convinced as others that Kadri is a keeper. If he doesnt show something this year under Babcock, he will be moving on. Probably deadline trade bait.

Where you need to be careful with that is where the Leafs got burned by it by Clarkson and his agent (his deal is structured the same way)... bonus money can't be bought out, only salary. So if O'Reilly's game goes south, you're stuck.
Terrible risk to take, but in O'Reilly's and Buffalo's favour he's being paid for his prime years, plays a premium position, is capable on both ends of the ice and takes some of the "need results now" pressure off Eichel. It also probably took a little extra to get him to give up his UFA to play in Buffalo.

Definitely can do without another March suspension for behavioural issues.

You mean he's gonna disappear in the playoffs?

He's in Edmonton. He's not getting into the playoffs.

I think the comparison to Joey T was to say he'd be misused by Todd Mclellan.

Good on ya, Connor.

Witch didn't want to give it up.

Also, not exactly newsworthy, but I like it. Mostly because he's a good kid. Nice family.
Columbus Blue Jackets - Blue Jackets sign Kole Sherwood to entry level contract - Columbus Blue Jackets - News

Him and his brother have both played in the Junior Jackets program and the whole family works with youth hockey here. I've seen them on the ice with Timbits mini mites running practice and learn to play classes. The Jackets invited them both to Dev camp, and Kole looked good enough to get an entry deal.

No prayer of making the NHL, but he's gonna have a job in the game.
