I think Oshie is pretty overrated, butttttt, that return is pretty solid to get him at his real worth.

EDIT: that sentence is confusing...it's a good deal for Washington because they didn't give up much, even if Oshie isn't that fantastic. He's better than Brouwer, so they win.

Can't stand the hype around Oshie but that is still a good pickup value wise.

The one thing that I never understood about Oshie... what exactly is he doing/practicing in that Enterprise commercial? Why does he need a guy to stand completely still in the net?

He can only score on goalies that don't move.

If he doesn't do the Sochi shoot out magic, no one knows who he is outside of St. Louis and some in division fans. He's good, but that performance put him in legend status. Best year was 21G, 60 PTs. I expect him to have career year in Washington, but that performance clouds a lot. Still a good value trade for the Caps.

Yep, he's a national hero. They never would have won that 4th place medal without him

Oshie is a weird player but he can also be a really good player, certainly top 6. Not that the Capitals are the 80's Oilers but their offensive gameplan has to be less restrictive than Hitchcock's right?

The Sabres and Ryan O'Reilly have agreed to a contract extension, a source told The Buffalo News on Friday morning. The long-term deal will be announced soon.

meh, not the biggest fan of O'reilly. For all that I think Buffalo's that much better because they added him. Possible playoff contender next year.

Oilers have signed McJesus to a three year entry level contract - I wonder if they'll give him 9 games before sending him back to junior?

:D

Biggest thing about ROR's new contract that we're going to start hearing more about is the way it is structured. It's almost entirely bonus based, with only $1M annual salary, because bonuses are not subject to the CBA's escrow requirements.

Methinks that's gonna become a negotiating tactic similar to NTC/NMC options.

Where you need to be careful with that is where the Leafs got burned by it by Clarkson and his agent (his deal is structured the same way)... bonus money can't be bought out, only salary. So if O'Reilly's game goes south, you're stuck.
