Coyotes GM on Gagner trade: 'We didn't think he could play center at the NHL level for us'

ummm.... wasn't that center their highest scoring forward last year?
yes, yes he was.

You read that wrong, puck. He meant that he can't play for them at the NHL level, because THEY won't be an NHL level team.

Note(s) from Jackets dev camp:

- Zach Werenski’s dad, Ken, was in the rink today after an eventful but exciting weekend for the family. After the draft, Zach flew directly from Florida to Columbus but Ken headed back home to Grosse Pointe, Mich., to get his son’s hockey bag and then drove down to Columbus to deliver it. Thanks to dad for coming through in the clutch.

Well done, dad.

- One of the first things you notice about Milano is that he’s bulked up considerably. He said he’s added somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-18 pounds since last season, and it’s obvious. Milano has spent the summer living and training in Columbus, getting to know the city and tackling some intense workouts.

One of the big worries I had about Sonny is that he was all flash and no substance. More content to do videos of stick tricks and goof off. According to a friend of mine who was there he didn't look like the same guy as last year. He wants to make the team and stay there, and has been working his ass off to get there. He's a little guy, so I will be interested in how he does in contact drills later.

Also; apparently Bjorkstrand is carrying himself very well. He's taken a leadership role that reminds people of Johansen and Jenner a few years ago. And he is apparently as excited as you can get to have Bittner in camp.

I hope he makes the team, and further pushes Boll down the org chart.

Not sure what this means other than some language in the contract for pols to tout - commercial construction subtrade unions in major markets always employ local labour. Unless it's for speciality installations most of the labour is going to be Detroit-centric regardless.

Only other possibility I can think of that would bring the local percentage of labour down is that the skilled trade unions in the Detroit area don't have the manpower required for the project, which I doubt given that Detroit's suburbs are still relatively stable economically and new construction does happen there, not to mention some of the revitalization projects happening within Detroit proper.

Oshie to the Capitals?

Yes sir...

The Washington Capitals have acquired right wing T.J. Oshie from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for right wing Troy Brouwer, goaltender Pheonix Copley and a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Paliotta has made two amazing passes, and broken up a 2 on 1. Werenski has made a few great plays too.

Me likey.
