on that note :

Ryan Miller at 3 years for 6 shmill per?

OR

Jarome Iginla at 3 years for 5.33 shmill per?

I wouldn't object to bringing Iggy back to Calgary in the final year of his contract - He could be a PP specialist banging one-timers behind goalies.

not neccessarily sure Iginla would have done that to Calgary (ie signing with a rival) but the Jim Benning slurpfest on the radio is kinda unbearable ... signing Ryan Miller was a mistake plain and simple

Everything Van has done with goalies the past few years has been a mistake. They should've just sat down and waited to see what they had.

On the other hand, it's not like they have better things to spend the money on right now, it's relatively short-term and they have other contracts expiring soon. It's a bad deal, but it's not a hands-tied deal.

It was funny the other day listening to Don Taylor and Tony Gallagher on the radio, Taylor with the leading conspiracy theory question of "Is Sbisa in the lineup over Ryan Stanton because he was part of the Ryan Kesler trade?" - Tony G is a Stanton fan because of his +10 rating.

i said they should have gone with the swedish tandem the day they signed miller last summer

sure ... the free agency crop this coming summer is shite but they had better things to spend their money on last summer

/Ill just hope somehow Darcy regier gets hired as new GM by San Jose in the offseason and he pulls a Jim benning and thinks their aging core needs Miller to "solidify the goaltending position"

heres a Gallagher-ism that I believe ... how bout you dash ?

Calgary most likely thinks Vancouver would be its easiest shot at getting to the second round AND vice versa

/although there arent many teams that DONT think Vancouver would be the easiest first round opponent :pout: lol

Yeah, I like the matchup with Vancouver the best (certainly better than either Anaheim or St. Louis - However, the Flames do play well against Nashville, so they would be my second choice).

Also, difficult to ignore the post-season history and deep runs the winner of a first round Vancouver - Calgary series have made...

Given how Lack is playing for Vancouver I got to think Miller could be on the trade block this off-season.

Shhhhh. Mirtle is a great writer because he knows analytics and isn't at all a reactionary hyperbolic dipshit like the rest of them.

he can be a petty dipshit when he wants to be ... like responding to people who questioned him on this tweet with "well ... Sharks didnt win that night right?"

as if his statement and the canucks predicted demise to the sharks in the playoff race down the stretch hinged entirely on the sharks winning that night :L

dipshit meter is VERY high on this one

Gonna be hard to offload him at $6M/year. Especially since he has a limited NTC.

only 1 option really ... San Jose ... wants to be on the west coast ... wife wants to restart acting career

long shot for sure
