Trainer's Room
Mets IF Jed Lowrie (left knee) received a series of PRP injections in hopes of alleviating the discomfort he's feeling. Lowrie signed a two-year deal last January but was hitless in seven at-bats in 2019 and has yet to play this season. . 2B Robinson Cano (left groin) was scheduled to play a simulated game Wednesday. The Mets hope he can return when eligible on Friday. . RHP Michael Wacha (right shoulder inflammation) threw from 75 feet on Tuesday. Manager Luis Rojas said Robert Gsellman is being stretched out to occupy Wacha's rotation spot. . SS Amed Rosario (stomach) missed his second straight game.


Up next:
Mets Rookie LHP David Peterson (2-1, 3.78 ERA) is scheduled to face the Nationals for the first time in Thursday's series finale. He'll go against Washington RHP Austin Voth (0-1, 1.80 ERA) who has tossed five innings in each of his first two starts.

Mets SS Amed Rosario (stomach) missed his third straight game. ... 2B Robinson Cano (left groin) played another simulated game Wednesday, but couldn't work out on the field before Thursday's game because the tarp was on in anticipation of morning rains. The Mets are hopeful he can return when eligible Friday.

Up Next:
Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (2-0, 2.45 ERA) will look to win his third straight start when the Mets begin a road trip at Philadelphia on Friday. The Phillies are still undecided on a starter for now.

Mets INF/OF Jeff McNeil was out of the starting lineup again after crashing into a wall and being carted off the field Thursday with a banged up knee. Rojas said McNeil "feels better" than he did on Friday.

The Phillies send former Mets' RHP Zack Wheeler 2-0, 2.89 ERA) to the mound against New York RHP Rick Porcello (1-2, 5.68). Porcello allowed three runs in 13 innings over his last two starts. He allowed 11 runs in six innnings in his first two.

Mets Two-time reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom played catch and felt better after he was scratched from his scheduled start against the Phillies on Friday night because of neck tightness. He could be in play for a start on Wednesday.

The Mets open a series in Miami with the Marlins on Monday and send RHP Robert Gsellman (0-0, 9.00 ERA) to the mound against RHP Jordan Yamamoto (0-0, 9.82 ERA).

Roster moves:
The Mets added yet another future star to their 60-man player pool, inviting their top overall prospect, shortstop Ronny Mauricio, to work at their alternate training site in Brooklyn. The move came days after the Mets added No. 2 prospect Francisco Alvarez and No. 5 prospect Matthew Allan to their player pool.

While the transactions technically make Mauricio, Alvarez and Allan eligible to make their big league debuts this season, team officials have described the moves more as a way to give them competitive practice time in the absence of a Minor League season.

The transactions also make them eligible to be traded before the Aug. 31 Deadline.

Mets LHP David Peterson (3-1, 2.91 ERA) is scheduled to start Tuesday. In his last start he didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning and beat the Wash. Nationals.
