Probably has something to do with the early 1980s I'm guessing.

Actually no. It had nothing to do with the Oilers/Isles of the 80's. I think it was the fact that Canada was such a big favorite & didn't get it done. I'll laugh this year if they don't win the Gold. Like somebody said in another thread, when your choices to replace Steven Stamkos are Martin St. Louis, Claude Giroux & James Neal among others your team is absolutely STACKED. Besides I love upsets.

yeah it was. but the rest of his game were average at best, put it this way. Joe Thornton had a better tournament than Sid did

:behindsofa:

He had the game winner in the SO against Switzerland, he was one of the few Canadian players that scored on Miller the first time around, he played exceptional defense throughout the knockout round, and put an end to the tournament in the most dramatic way possible. I'm fine the way Sid did in his first Olympic games at the young age of 22. Go Sid :canada:

I look back at the 2006 roster and it makes me cry - Way too old and way too slow. I think Stevie Y did a pretty good job with this year's roster, but only time will tell.

bertuzzi on that roster after what happened with him before that. mind blowing.
Adam Foote
Wade Redden
Robyn Regehr
Bryan McCabe
Kris Draper

holy shit... and NO Crosby yes he was young but it was fucking Crosby over Draper or BErtuzzi.... good grief

True, upsets are awesome in Olympic hockey, I'm picking Team Austria as my dark horse team.

i remember when we went to OT and the building was nervous. you could cut the energy with a knife my brother and I just sat in our seats in the intermission. I just said to him. Sid will get it. I wasnt nervous at all I knew we would win there was a calm feeling I had. I just knew we wouldnt be denied on home ice. Sidneys shot was not really great it was good but miller should have stopped that overall. I still love Iggys Pass.

that game was all Toews and probably KEslers best for the US

wouldnt it be sweet if somehow Switzerland and Austria or some other small hockey nation got in lol. not going to happen but the Swiss are so dangerous vs Canada like Belarus for Sweden

Crosby should have been on that team, no doubt, and I'm glad to see a young guy like Duchene made it this year, man I love watching that kid skate.

To get this thread somewhat back on topic, in a one game do or die, I would pick Quick.

That would be sweet, I think Switzerland might finish top 5 tho, I really like their team. Not too flashy, but seems rather stout.

Wow, that must've been a heck of a game to go to. I remember when they won the energy in that building was amazing. Quite a great scene to be a part of.

Just to prove I'm not the only Carey Price hater, 29 votes in and 0 for Carey. Everyone else has at least 1.

its quick for me

Tuukka Rask - lost game 6 never won as a starter and such a hot head
Jonathan Quick - saw some pretty amazing goaltending the last couple years
Henrik Lundqvist - probably a close second to quick
Carey Price - nope
Ryan Miller - just cant seem to get it done but that sabres team in front of him sheesh (sorry boss)
Roberto Luongo - has done it with Team Canada but the Finals was another matter. I would have him third of this list maybe even close to Lundqvist.
