One Game Do Or Die: Which Current NHL Goalie Do You Take?

Think that I'm gonna go off list & take a flyer on Jonas Hiller. I'm always impressed by what I see of him in action.

i'm going rask because i cant recall a time that i ever thought or heard about rask being in a slump. consistency wins the day for me.

He struggled a bit in January - gave up a few soft goals here and there - he wasn't terrible but I could tell a difference

Do you two have Center Ice or do you just see Price when he plays your team? The Habs are rarely on national tv. Price has been mostly fantastic in front of a very average team.

Yes, I have Center Ice, and I'm not saying he's a bad goalie. I just think he gets too much hype (not his fault either). For instance, when I look at the goalies on this list, I could come up with a valid reason for why I would pick them in a do or die game. Tuuka Rask has taken his team to the Finals, Jonathan Quick has led his team to the Cup & won the Conn Smythe, Henrik Lundqvist has won the gold medal at Torino in 2006 as well as the Vezina, Ryan Miller has won the Vezina as well as the Most Outstanding Player for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, & Roberto Luongo has won gold at Vancouver in 2010. Carey Price has yet to do anything like that in his career. Maybe he will one day, maybe even in Sochi, but as of yet I don't think he has done anything to warrant the hype he gets as the great young Canadian goalie.

I didnt pick Price in the poll either, but I dont think he is over hyped. And to say he is hyped more because of the Halak trade is silly.

Probably Marty, he's just seen everything by now.

Including a below league average SV% for the last 3.5 years.

I mean Ken Dryden's got a hell of a resume too (especially in big games), but he wouldn't be my choice for a similar reason.

If I were to chose one I'd probably go Quick.

On another note, I loved those commercials for the 2011 playoffs. Probably the best promotional ads I've ever seen in sports. Love that Flower moment too.

Price elevates the play of that team nightly.

Of the ones on the list, I would take Quick. But of all the goalies in the league, I would take Niemi. His mechanics are so consistent, and he is so unflappable. I've never seen him "lose it" after a rough goal. He doesn't dwell on bad shots. He understands better than anyone in the league that the least important shot is the last one, the most important is the next one.

One game - one shot. Niemi.

I record games for my son to watch and learn. I have some Devs games. I have a bunch of Rinne from last year. And a LOT of Antti.
