As I have said before, the real travesty in all this is that when the team is forced to change the name, hundreds if not thousands of supposedly disparaged Native Americans will come out to claim their share of the class action suite against the team for unfair prosecution and the settlement will make the team a shell of a shell of its former selves. Sorry dude, but for an act or a word to be an act of racism requires intent. I have NEVER seen any one write a song called hail to the ****ers. This whole debate is a situation of select individuals looking for aingst and strife where there really was none. And after not finding it, they made it up. Kind of like an insecure woman looking for evidence that her husband is cheating because she is not happy with herself and its easier to think he is cheating and thus I am unhappy rather than to just admit she is primarily just a miserable bitch and misery loves company.

Guys, sorry for hating on your team yesterday. Although I do find the name inappropriate and offensive, I think I took it too far. I was drinking with a buddy of mine who's been acting like an idiot as of late and it's really been frustrating trying to get thru to him, and I may have taken my frustrations out on you guys. Anyways, good luck with the upcoming season, big fan of RG3, would gladly trade you guys our rapist QB for him.

But thanks for manning up about the tone and style of how you expressed your opinion, regarding the name. Hard to have a civil debate, when the opening salvo starts along the lines of, 'you're teams name is racist'...

There are a lot of people (yes, even outside of skins nation), who don't believe that this is a proven point. And many of the reasons have been eloquently stated in this thread, based on fact not just opinion.

Sorry guys, but when about 1/3 of the HIGH SCHOOLS using the redskins name and logo are located on Native American Reservations and some proclaim as much as a 90% Native American student body and THEY dont want to get rid of the name... why should our team?? And the whole concept that the Word Redskin is equal to the N word is a crock of shit fostered by the change the name crowd to give it more traction. I doubt any one can actually recount the last time IF EVER that the word redskin was used to disparage any one.

If one HS on an Indian reservation has the name Redskin...the name is not offensive.

Agreed on the N word comparison. I have never once heard the term "redskin" used in the manner of the N word.
