Ray labelled him a "riverboat gambler"

edit:

"if he makes the team, he would be the 7 guy ... what ever you think is defined as a riverboat gambler, he's more than that ... he just doesnt have a defenders mindset"

yikes ... would be only the second player to be cut from the cdn world junior team 3 times

Likely a very good QB on the powerplay.

/Still hoping for Wotherspoon (Flames prospect) to get the call though.

markhmasters: Canadian lines for final camp game: Drouin-Danault-Rattie; Hudon-MacKinnon-Ritchie; Shinkaruk-Catenacci-Wilson; Camara-McNeill-Lipon

markhmasters: Canada d-pairings for final camp game: Reinhart-Corrado; Murphy-Sproul; Wotherspoon-Dumba

I've bolded the guys I think are already on the team, the rest are battling for the remaining spots.

Reinhart can play with any defenseman they put him with. If the other defenseman wants to jump up on the play Reinhart will cover for him usually without a problem.

The more I think about I don't see Canada as the favourite at this tourney. All this talk about being one of the best teams ever is crap, IMO. Why? Because the Nuge is playing? I'm not buying it. It isn't like there is even one drafted generational type player on Team Canada. The goaltending is looking more and more questionable and I'm not sure the blueline is as great as everyone is making out.

Team Russia has firepower to burn and the best goalie in the tournament. If I had to pick a team to save my life, I'm sorry to say that they'd be that team.

We're not winnin' if we don't take MacKinnon...

Russia might have the edge in goal. They have 2 guys who can flat out play. I don't think any team has the depth at forward Canada does. Canada's defensemen have a lot of hype. We'll find out if they can live up to it.

Nuge, Huberdeau, Scheifele, Strome, Jenner means they can spread the wealth and have serious scoring threats up and down the line-up. and load the powerplay the fuck up.
there's no Crosby or Tavares, but all of those guys are serious talent. And together, it's better than what I see on anyone else's top 2 or 3 lines.

I hope so. As always Canada has a lot of depth. Top end gamebreakers at forward and in nets are something that might be lacking.

The good thing is that we'll actually be able to watch THIS hockey and find out.

Shinkaruk and Rattie (two Calgary boys) with the goals in a 2-0 shutout over the U of C Dinos. Brossoit was good again between the pipes today.

Edit: Looks like the Shinkaruk goal was changed to Camara.

I kind of forgot about Rattie. I was hoping the Sens were going to grab him at the draft in 2011. If you ask me there isn't a whole lot to separate Rattie from Ryan Strome.

He's a very talented guy who seems to get overlooked a lot.

I was hoping that the Flames would have nabbed Rattie to play with Svensational (junior linemates in Portland).

markhmasters: Final goalie stats at Canadian jr camp: Paterson 33/33 (1.00), Brossoit 48/50 (.960), Binnington 31/34 (.912), Subban 38/43 (.884)

Yet I think Subban will be one of the three goalies going to Russia. Binnington could be the one staying home.

Blobmac was pretty much in agreement on the radio ... like you guys talked about the roster being close to locked prior to this camp ... the goalie position was even more so locked down (re Subban's status)
