yeah, Team Russia would be devastated by the NHL coming back,
and canada would be strong, but a completely different team
USA probably most unaffected (lose 2 good players?)

/100!

Russia would be interesting because it's hard to say who's coming up next for them. Most of the young players in the KHL get very little playing time.

A few media scribes covering the game last night felt that the Corrado - Wotherspoon combo was the best defense pairing in last night's game.

I'd say that's a stone cold lead pipe lock puck.

Anybody see the Ritchie hit on Dumba last night? I don't think Dumba will be making the trip to Russia (coach wasn't too glowing in his post-game comments).

Yeah, as in past years, 80% of the team's roster are already decided prior to the camp in Calgary.

This, IMO, is becoming a problem for Hockey Canada. They just go with certain guys.

That and I'm seeing increasing Nagano-itis on the Canadian WJHC teams the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised to see the next Rob Zamuner out there. :L

Get THE BEST guys and put them out on the ice. One or two guys dedicated to working the PK is enough. These are elite hockey players; they'll learn to play a role if you put them on the team as a 3rd or 4th liner (see Toews, Jonathan 2010).

I agree Kenny, are you telling me that a guy like Shinkaruk (potted a nice goal last night) can't be an effective 3rd or 4th line guy and maybe chip in with a key goal? Sure, he's not the biggest guy out there, but do we really need an idiot ala Cormier banging guys and taking dumb penalties? What's wrong with guys skating hard and forcing turnovers in the offensive zone by causing opposing defensemen to be rushed?

Don't worry if the lockout ends many of the players not playing today will be in NHL training camps.:D:

CIS Golden Bears up 4-1 on the Camp Hopefuls.
Subban let in three early (including a weak one), Dumba got beat clean for the latest.
Corrado scored (again) for Team Canada.

I'm not so sure either way about that. Aside from RNH, it wouldn't shock me if a few were left to play in the tournament and then join their NHL teams afterwards. It's quite the jump from regular CHL to NHL. WHJC could be a nice transition step for them. It would also give them an extra look at them playing against the best from their age group.

markhmasters: Caps prospect Tom Wilson took 2 penalties in the 2nd (boarding, charging) while Hawks prospect Mark McNeill was whistled for boarding

It goes to my earlier point - Tom Wilson is getting a lot of attention for his tough physical play, but if he ends up taking dumb penalties, he shouldn't be on the team (especially with how IIHF refs call penalties).

Sounds like Flames goalie prospect Laurent Brossoit was pretty good between the pipes today (1 goal on 19 shots).
