Russia wins the game on a PP in overtime. Yakupov was invisible in the game (wasn't even on the ice for the game winning PP goal).

Still, thanks Slovakia for taking a point away from Mother Russia.

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that every player on Team Sweden is named "Kyocera"?

4-1 Canada over Germany 5 minutes into the 2nd.

Ouellet, RNH, Scheifele, and Huberdeau with the goals for Canada. RNH has 3 assists to go along wtih his goal. Subban gets the start for Canada.

Good to see the big dogs show up, as they were invisible in the exhibition games.
Subban seems to have settled down, too.

Oh, and there are two players from Columbus on team USA. Kuraly and Murphy.

Both out of the same youth hockey program (CCYHA). Maybe I should put 43.33 over there...

Ok, Drouin just has sick sick hands - Absolutely filthy goal on the Germans today.

I'm starting to think Drouin > Macinnon.
Harrington was very impressive, and Hamilton was much smarter.

I know it was only Germany, but you could tell the team has started to get on the same Page. Especially in the 3rd period with the relentless forecheck. Still some turnovers to clean up

Did y'all see that poor Finnish dude's leg fall off? Ouch

It reminded me of Taylor Hall in that fight where he fell and all his weight was on the ankle. Something had to give and he's out of the tourney with a snapped ankle (big time ouch!)

Nice goal by Wotherspoon today (Corrado would probably have scored as well)

I'm very much in agreement and I think by the end of this tournament a lot of others will be as well. MacKinnon might be more NHL ready by next season (if there is one) as he is more physically mature, but I think Drouin is the better overall prospect and will be the better player in the long-run. Not knocking MacKinnon, but I think he's been over-hyped a bit for being from the same hometown and attending the same US prep school as Crosby. He should still be a solid top 5 pick but I don't think he's a shoe-in to go #1 as many had projected.

Seth Jones >> MacKinnon

although this is comparing apples to oranges; I'd prefer the next Pronger to the next Crosby

#15 Dreishaitl for Germany was very impressive. He's not draft eligible until 2014. The coach said he's been sick & wasn't going to play him much. Yeah right. LOL

Yeah he did look good. For the "doormats" of the pool, I don't think Germany is that bad. They are way better than Norway, Denmark or whoever it was that Canada opened against last year. Now that only 1 team gets relegated I think they will be in the main tournament to stay.
