He's looked like a Burke-era Leaf from what I've seen in the tourney so far. That is to say he's been mediocre at best.

Kid needs to pick it up.

The WJC doesn't start until December 26th. We need to allow these kids to get settled into a new environment & very different officiating. They know what to expect now. If they play like crap & miss the medal round (highly unlikely) we can complain all we want. Right now I'm just happy to be able to watch some quality hockey.

Besides it's not like the USA looks any better. They got crushed today by Finland. They have the same problem the Canadians to in terms of penalties. Both teams need to adjust to the officiating in a hurry.

What's the deal on this Jenner guy? Is he a bit of a dirty player in the OHL? Team Canada needs to clean up their act. I heard Huberdeau and RNH had lousy games other than the shootout (individual plays) and seem disinterested. If that is the case then that is disappointing. I've seen all sides of Huberdeau this season in the Q. Sometimes he seems interested and sometimes he does not and sometimes he seems frustrated. I figured he'd be motivated for this tournament. I suppose it was just a pre-season game and his first game with unfamiliar linemates.

I don't consider Jenner a dirty player. He plays a physical two way game. The Blue Jackets got themselves one heck of a hockey player.

If the Canadian players aren't interested come the 26th I'll be very surprised. Thie tournament means a lot & I beleive these young men realize it. We shall see soon enough.

Thanks for the feedback! I know you follow th OHL closer than I do. Boone Jenner is a great hockey name! I hope you are right about him and Team Canada. I hope the kid from Sweden isn't hurt as bad as it sounds. That would be heart-breaking for him. I think Huberdeau and RNH and Schiefle need some time to gel. Moosehead fans want Huberdeau on a line with Drouin and MacKinnon.

Nice hands at around 0:43 for Vikstrand

Not bad for a defenseman picked in the 7th round of last year's draft.

Watching this kid yesterday I'm not sure why he wasn't picked earlier.

IIHF suspends Jenner for three games - Now the question is, do you keep him on the roster and play a man short for those games or do you bring in somebody else and send Jenner home?

IIHF suspends Canada's Jenner three games for late hit

Edit: Bobby Mac is saying Canada will keep him on the roster and ride the suspension out.

The fact they're keeping him says a lot about how they view him as a player. I think it's the right decision too.

Well everyone can breathe a sigh of relief, Yakupov is ready for the "dirty" Canadians.

Report: Yakupov ready to keep cool against "dirty" Canadians

I wonder what RNH thinks of those comments. I'm not even sure if the 2 would have met yet. I can't say that I can't see where he is coming from to some extent given some of the frustrated play of a few Candians against the Russians last year.

Also I'm reading reports that Jonathan Drouin suffered a Charlie Horse in practise and may be out for the tournament. If so that is a shame as I think after this tournament he would have leap-frogged Mooseheads teammate Nathan MacKinnon (among others perhaps) in most draft rankings. I think there is 1 or 2 that already have him ahead.

4-1 Canada over Germany 5 minutes into the 2nd.

Ouellet, RNH, Scheifele, and Huberdeau with the goals for Canada. RNH has 3 assists to go along wtih his goal. Subban gets the start for Canada.

Germany playing their back-up goalie. According to the commentators their goal is to avoid relegation and therefore are saving their top goalie for games they feel they have a chance to win.

Drouin is in the lineup afterall.

Slovakia giving Russia all they can handle through two periods (Russia leads 2-1). Actually, it should be a tie game as the first Russian goal was offside.

I bet Yakupov has no problem withi his teammates lowbridging Slovak players, though. Talk about a dirty hit.

Edit: Shalunov cross-checks a Slovak player right across the grill. STFU Yakupov.

Slovakia has tied it up in the final minute courtesy of the Shalunov dirty hit. Go Slovakia!

We're going to overtime in Ufa. Slovakia starts the OT with a PP of about 1:20.
