it was only exhibition, but that was a bit of a stinker. didn't see much dominance from the good guys at all.
too much trying to thread a pass into the slot instead of driving to the net.
and waaaaaay too many penalties. I realize some of them were borderline, but that's no excuse when you saw they way the game was being called. It cost them any chance of winning. the first two FIN goal were on 5 on 3 powerplays (the third was a Subban stinker), and the chance for and push at the end of the game was eliminated by two moire penalties in the 5 minutes. coach had better rip these fuckers a new one after this performance.

best player for Canada imho was Scheifele
Finland had a few guys stand out. Armenia, Grandlund and Olli "whassa" Matta

not much good to take from this game. except that it's over, and it didn't count.

3-2 USA over Sweden in OT. This tournament will be great to watch. Can't wait for the next game.

I guess it's a good thing Wilson was cut.

You know that IIHF officiating will always be a little squirrely, but you have to maintain discipline. I think Spott can get the boys to tone it down.

/I'm starting to get a little concerned about the lack of offensive firepower though. These guys need to start filling the net with vulcanized rubber.

It's only the first prelim game. They'll be fine offensively. I'd be concerned about their goaltending though.

What did we learn about Finland & Sweden today? I only saw a little bit of the USA vs Sweden game. Their style of play hasn't changed much. They're very disciplined on D.

we learned that Finland won't be intimidated.
but we kind of knew that already.

Brett Ritchie (UBI) & Charles Hudon (back) both left practice early & both are unlikely to play on Saturday against the Swedes

/what's a UBI?
