Does indeed exist. It's a town of about 500 people (I think, only just passed through).

I don't believe Drouin is from there however. He's listed on hockeydb as being from Ste-Agathe. Ste-Agathe-des-Monts (often just called Ste-Agathe) is about 30 clicks from Huberdeau.

I don't if the writer of the piece is very thorough and found out that Drouin is actually from the smaller Huberdeau or if he's just sloppy and put Huberdeau in the article because he was thinking of Jonathan Huberdeau.

:confused2:

Interesting. I stand corrected. I knew that was not where they normally list Drouin as being from so I just assumed the problem was the latter of your scenarios and that it didn't actually exist at all.

I woouldn't have guessed it in the one game I've seen Drouing and Mackinnon play but it looks like JS might be right. Drouin seems to be impressing a lot of people.

It reminds me a lot of the Q's top 2 prospects 2 years ago, Jonathan Huberdeau and Sean Couturier. Sean Couturier was the consencus best prospect in the Q going into the season and that continued well into the season. Huberdeau started the season as a late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder but by late in the season or during the playoffs/Memorial Cup Huberdeau passed him. Couturier was more physically mature so he was ready for the NHL sooner. I can see the same type of scenario happening with Drouin and MacKinnon. The only difference is that these guys actually play on the same junior team and even the same line for that matter.

With Columbus having 3 1st rounders and the best odds of getting the 1st overall pick 1 way or another, I can't help but wonder if they were able to get 1 of these guys with their top pick, if they would trade up with their next highest to get the other.

US is getting close to setting their roster for the tourney:

TSNBobMcKenzie: Top line likely JT Miller (HFD/NYR) between John Gaudreau (BC/CGY) and Rocco Grimaldi (UND/FLA). Alex Galchenyuk (SAR/MTL) on 2nd line LW.

Grimaldi is shorter than Gaudreau (and that's no easy feat)

Not a big deal but Huberdeau will not play in tomorrow's pre-tournament game. He is still "serving his suspension". Thursday night the Sea Dogs play their 4th game since Huberdeau was suspended by the Q for 4 games. After that he will be good to go. I guess that's the IIHF's or Hockey Canada's way of honouring the suspension.

Also, I've read that the US team has taken all 26 guys remaining to Finland and will trim their roster down to 23 after they've concluded their pre-tournament games.

The list of the 40 greatest players in Canadian World Junior history has been compiled. No surprise to see Eberle at the top of the list.

The Top 40 All-Time Canadian Juniors

no Jim Sandlak? fuck that.
he may have been a disappointing pro, but he sure as hell earned the 'House' nickname in international junior play.

Quite a few goalies on the list likely prevented Sandlak from being included. Wasn't he also part of the Punch-Up in Piestany (although that didn't prevent your favourite player Theo Fleury from being named :heh:)

Dave Chyzowski went 2nd overall behind Mats Sundin in 1989. The Islanders rushed him & he never figured it out. Had a few good years in the AHL. It's too bad he wasn't given the proper time to develop.

Interesting list. Lots of current NHLers. I figured Gretzky would be the 1 guy on the list. However, an Oiler got the top spot anyway.LOL

no, Sandlak was tearing it up in 1986. Pestieny was the year after.
Probably didn't make the list because he only had one tournament
but man, was House dominant that year.

I was watching the TSN special reviewing the top 40 list and Bobby Mac said that Sandlak was on his top 40 list, puck.

thanks. I have the special taped for later.
I have had a heck of a time finding youtube footage of Sandlak in that tourney, but I vividly remember him steamrolling some poor Finnish dude into another dimension. Quite possibly the biggest hit I have ever seen. He was a bear, like Lindros was early on. 12 points in 7 games in addition to annihilating the competition.

the only downside was that he was such an impressive power forward coming through the ranks, that he made Cam Neely expendable. :L

According to this guy, Team Canada is preparing themselves for 24 hours of darkness. I'm pretty sur UFA is in the southern part of Russia, and just a bit further north than Edmonton. I don't think that puts them within the Arctic Circle. I imagine the days will be short this time of year but 24 hours is quite the exaggeration.

WJC2013: Team Canada girds for ?24 hours of darkness? in Ufa | Buzzing The Net - Yahoo! Sports Canada

Unless of course Mr. Burns' Russian counterpart, Comrade Burnsov has something evil planned.

(I was saying Boo-unrsov)
