If the lockout continues, Canada will benefit from having some good forwards and defense, but question marks remain in goal. Canada hasn't really had a dominant goalie since Carey Price in '07 (Pierre McGuire orgasmic yelling towards Dustin Tokarski notwithstanding).

Do we know for sure if RNH will be made available if the lockout continues? A lot of people seem to think that it is a given that he will be but I'm not sure I see the logic behind it. If the NHL's Edmonton Oiler's thought that an 18 year old RNH was too valuable release him and/or didn't see the benefit from a development perspective, then why would their AHL team think differently of a 19 year old RNH? Not to mention the fact that team Canada played most of their games last year in Edmonton so I'm pretty sure Oilers fans would have been cool with it. Not sure Oklohoma City fans (however many there might be) really care about RNH playing for Team Canada.

Since he missed out on playing last season at the WJHC tourney (too valuable to the Oilers in the NHL), this is his last chance to play at this particular tournament. Obviously, he wouldn't be released by the Oil if the NHL was actually playing hockey, but I think there's just as great a chance being injured playing for OKC in the AHL as there is for Team Canada at this tourney.

Just keep Kevin Lowe away for anything to do with Team Canada mgmt., anything that guy touches turns bad.

I don't know Dash.

Malcolm Subban is looking pretty good these days. I'm pretty sure he'll be on the team.

Not sure who the other options are but Subban is a good start.

.930 SV% in O so far this year.

It will be interesting to see which goalies are invited to the camp in Calgary, Kenny. I expect to see Malcolm Subban there.

Sens 2012 draft pick and Hitmen goalie Chris Driedger might be a darkhorse.

14-3-2 with a 2.24 GAA and .923 SV%.

The defense looks pretty good.

Murphy
Hamilton
Rielly
Reinhart
Pouliot
Dumba
Ceci
Koekkoek
etc....

The list is long and the competition for the top 6 should be fierce.

My reason for doubt isn't so much to do with injuries as I agree that there is just as much of a chance of being injured either way, but more to do with his value to his current team. If he was too valuable at 18 to the Oilers, wouldn't it stand to reason that at 19 (theoretically a better player) he would be even more valuable to their AHL affiliate (a theorertically weaker team)? I know players are even more valuable to their CHL teams and they release their players all the time. It is afterall junior hockey. I'm just not sure where AHL teams stand in this. I also don't see how it would benefit his development. Guess we'll have to see what happens.

The Oil Kings goalie Laurent Brossoit played well against the Russians in the Subway series. The broadcasters seem to think Brossoit, Subban & Fucale are the favorites to play for Team Canada.

As an added bonus for you dash Brossoit was a 6th round pick of the FLAMES in 2011.

I'm hearing the Oilers organization is expected to make a decision very soon regarding RNH and if they'll have him leave his AHL team for a few weeks. If he does play I wonder if he'll be named Captain or if they'll go with someone that played in the tournament last year.

I'd like to see Schiefele named captain of Team Canada, he was there last year and the guy just strikes me as a great leader (along with being a fine player).

Edit: Huberdeau would be a good selection for captain as well.

Yeah I'm thinking either of those guys as well. Of course I'm a bit biased towards Huberdeau. In that 4 game series they had in the summer, they rotated captains. Huberdeau was captain in the final game and was the one that was handed the trophy or whatever it was. That makes me think there is no clear captain yet but that Huberdeau might be the front-runner. Or at least that was the case at the time of the tournament. It wouldn't shock me to see it goto RNH though. Tough call where he was not there last year. Who knows, it could even be a condition of him being released to join the team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan Murphy or Doug Hamilton wear the C either.
