That's what I figured. Ideally I would like 2 years with a club option for a 3rd. Year 1 is a throw away year for us anyway so let him work out the kinks, if he sucks in year 2 then you let him go. If nothing else he'll make for a good cheerleader.

If the Mets offer him 2 years, he'll sign. I doubt it though.

If he's relatively cheap, the Giants will re-sign him.

I don't know. It may have been posturing, but his reported reaction to the Giants offers was to be insulted. This smells like "an Uribe" : if he gets something close to what the Giants are offering from a team he'd like to play for then he won't be signing with San Francisco.

None of us know, but I'd be surprised if he takes equal money from another team...too good a fit here and he's loved.

I've heard the Giants are willing to offer Wilson a Major League deal, but the Mets are not.

I love Wilson but if he leaves because he is angry and sad over a smart business decision then I am more than happy to move on from him

From what I've heard, the Mets aren't going to offer him anything just yet. They need to make sure he's healthy before giving him anything. I believe he still has a bit more to go with his rehab.

Yup. That's just it. No team can know for certain how he will respond until June (maybe May, at the earliest). Someone will offer him a contract before that. The Giants already have, and I agree with tzill that I don't think it is off the table, regardless of who will become their super-utility position player (if they aren't already on the roster). If the Mets want to risk it, more power to them. Again, hopefully, that would mean they can't sign Hairston, and the Giants can. ;)

Just saw the MLBTV 2012 World Series Movie.

It had a great ending.

I looked to see if I could confirm, but this link was he only place I found this...

Clay Hensley is arb eligible? I thought they non-tendered him?

That was my recollection too, although maybe I was just done with him when I was rosterbating, as I was with Mota and Huff.

Exactly on estimate.

Overpay, but he does have the potential to at least play to the contract.

This trade is an odd one for me. We got a ring out of it, but he did nothing (on the field) to contribute to it. We also gave up arguably our #1 prospect for him. Now he is out top paid position player (maybe #2 to Oxy?) and we are all crossing our fingers that he plays to the contract.

Tough trade to evaluate...

ouch...

Estimate was about 6M, he signs for 8M. And this is just his first year of arb.

Once the kids start to lose their bargain factor, they begin to lose their value. I understand he had to be paid, and good for him for getting it done. But overpays make it harder to get complimentary pieces in FA or trade.

From the sounds of it to me, the Giants and Posey came to terms with this pretty easily, both were on the same page. Even though it was an overpay by the MLBtraderumors site's predictions, not an overpay from the Giants point of view.
