i'd actually be mad if they sign Victorino. more personal than anything. i hate every team hes played for, so he gets the hate.

:popeye:

Morse could be available from the Nats? they'd prolly want a lot for him though.

Stats be darned. Don't like Victorino. Don't want him.

Dan Haren to the Nats (per MLBTradeRumors), supposedly 1 year $13M. Looks like they've found their Edwin Jackson replacement.

According to Baggs we made a 3 year offer to Scoots. Already not happy

Agreed, but if we had been happy getting him for 2/16, yeah, we carry him another year.

We could offer Freddy Sanchez 2/12.

I was down on Swisher early but after listening to some of you and after the Pagan signing, I'm changing my tune.

If signed, would they stick Swish in left? Blanco to the bench?

Can any of them play second base?

Per Baggs Bobby Evans only admitting that a 2 year offer has been made to Scutaro, and that a 3rd year option has been discussed. Also in talks with Theriot for a utility role.

Bochy and Sabes also just had their options for 14 officially picked up. No surprises here.

Arias and Theriot can. If we lose Scutaro but gain Swisher that would work out fine. Scutaro wasn't going to hit .320 all year this year. In fact while I think he'd hit better than Arias, the delta wouldn't be so tremendous. Meanwhile if we do get Swisher we look something like this:

Pagan
Arias (?)
Panda
Posey
Belt
Swisher
Pence
Crawford

The problem is we now don't have a lock #2 hitter. We have a ton of 5 and 6 hitters. Maybe Belt hitting 2nd instead of Arias? Does he make enough contact? Swisher don't, nor does Pence.

Vicotrino signs 3 year 38M with the Red Sox

Appears we got Pagan for a bargain. Very confused by the Red Sox

Agreed. Wasn't SV slotted to make less than Oxy? Now he makes an additional 3M per?

I guess they saw the market closing on the mid-guys and had to jump. Didn't want to get stuck with Bourne or Hamilton having leverage.

So who still needs a CF? Philly, Arz... ??? Does Hamilton end up in LA? (Yikes). Hamilton needs a small market team for his health, doesn't he?

Assuming this roster, Arias and Belt are the only options. I think Belt is on his way to being a premier #2, but he isn't there yet...

Even though the Dodgers new ownership appears to be made of money, I still can't believe they'd sign Hamilton with 3 full-time OF's under contract.....especially when two of them are seemingly untradeable and there's no way in hell Kemp is going anywhere. If they can somehow find a way to trade Ethier, then it's possible, but I don't even think the Yankees or Red Sox would want him. Maybe the Phillies could take Ethier???

I agree. He is already there as far as OBP goes and being a LHH (with 1B holding on the runner), but he needs to make better contact.
