I wonder if the Giants are still considering Victorino for left field.

Wouldn't that be sweet?

LF Pagan
2B Scutaro
CF Victorino
C Posey
3B Panda
RF Pence
1B Belt
SS Crawford
P

It could fit if tzill's $150 mill budget is a reality.

Now we just need Scutaro and the whole band is back together.

So is Romo now the official closer for the team? I always thought he was seen as a little too fragile to handle back to backs all season long?

Um, did you seriously just knock WS MVP out of the 3 hole for the Hawaiian dickhead?

Yup. Hopefully a 2 year $13.5M deal is good enough (of course less would be nice).

I think he's not as durable as a Wilson type reliever (injuries be damned), but I'd hazard a guess that Bochy will use Casilla, Affeldt and Lopez in the closer role during some heavy workload times for Romo. If Romo can save 75% (roughly) of the opportunities on the table and the other 3 can handle the other 25% (roughly), hopefully all can still be effective.

Wth a lineup like that would it really matter?

Don't you have some candy to steal from some little babies?

Well I mean, that ain't the '27 Yankees there. Yeah it would matter.

Although we all agree that 4th year is scary, that's just today's game. I think teams know that the last year or so of a deal to a guy in his 30s is likely to be a not-so-hot bargain, but that's the price you pay. You assume some 'wasted' payroll to injury (Wilson) or suck (Huff).

If you don't, some other teams get all the players.

i'd actually be mad if they sign Victorino. more personal than anything. i hate every team hes played for, so he gets the hate.

:popeye:

Morse could be available from the Nats? they'd prolly want a lot for him though.

Wow - that is about $2.75 mill less in 2013 than I had budgeted. Definitely creates room for an upgrade of some kind. (Not that I'm the SFG's CFO, but if someone wants to contact me about the job, have them leave a PM. I'm available immediately. Thanks.)

Jeremy Affeldt underwent laser eye surgery (rotoworld)
Jeremy Affeldt underwent laser eye surgery in November.
It shouldn't affect his preparation for the new season. Affeldt, who signed a three-year, $18 million extension with the Giants last month, posted a 2.70 ERA over 63 1/3 innings in 2012.

So here's what we know:

1.) Pagan - CF
2.) ???
3.) Sandoval - 3B
4.) Posey - C
5.) ??? *
6.) Belt - 1B
7.) ???
8.) Crawford - SS

*I suppose we can assume that Pence is back given Sabean's comments, but it's not in the bag just yet.

If we can get to this:

Pagan - CF
Scutaro - 2B
Sandoval - 3B
Posey - C
Pence - RF
Belt - 1B
Blanco/Hairston - LF
Crawford - SS

I'd be a happy, happy man. :)

Do you all think Pence would be open to moving to LF? He's not an abortion in RF, but Blanco/Hairston (assuming Hairston signed with us) would be an upgrade in RF (especially Blanco).

Fine. If we get SV, too, then you can bat him 5th. Strange place for one of the best base stealers in the game, IMO. Or 2nd and move Scoots down to 7th, but that's a huge waste of perhaps the best #2 guy we've had since I can remember.

Maybe it ain't the '27 Yankees, but in our park, with our pitching, it's PD close.

Barring a trade, Pence will be back. The Fo has only stated that they are not ready to sign a long-term deal. Arb has been offered.
