Some rumblings that the Yanks may deal Granderson.

Question: what would you give up for him?

Vitals:

31 years old.
OPS+ last 3 years: 108, 142, 116
WAR last 3 years: 4.1, 5.3, 2.7
Contract status: $15MM in 2013, FA in 2014.

Crick and Brown?

Traderbation part 2: Twins looking to deal Willingham.

Vitals:

33 yo
OPS+: 129, 121, 144
WAR: 2.6, 2.1, 2.9

Peggs and Heston?

Granderson has been helped out so much by Yankee stadium and the lineup around him. His defense is suspect and his gets absolutely destroyed by lefties. Plus, he's a FA after next year. I'd take a chance on him, but not at the cost of our top 2!

Willingham, on the other hand, has never played in a hitters park yet he puts up very respectable offensive numbers. Would I take a chance on him? Hell yeah! Especially with Blanco able to come in for defense from the 7th on. Unsure what it will take to get.

Pirates sign Russel Martin to a 2 year $17 million. Interesting. Yankees are about to close in on Napoli (IMO).

I forget where I heard it, but the Yankees do not trade good players. It's generally true for the most part. Sure you get a couple guys that maybe couldn't handle New York mentally and succeeded elsewhere, but usually they retain talent. Granderson has done pretty well for them so if they're looking to trade him it probably means he's shot.

lol.....it was on Page 26.....a page you posted on.....

:boink:

:heh:

You are right though, another domino has fallen, and a good domino at that. I'm going to laugh if Bourne signs a 5 year, $60M offer somewhere after all of that $100M talk.

Hat tip to Upstater (and MLBTradeRumors of course), but wow, Braves trade Tommy Hanson to the Angels for Jordan Walden. I wonder if this means that Greinke is no longer an option for them. I hope Greinke doesn't go to the Doghairs.

I like this way more than the 140 over 7 year deal. 20 million a year is way too much for Wright. 17 is much closer to what I was thinking. I don't understand backloading the deal however, that makes no sense to me.

Aren't the Mets kind of broke now? They're kicking the can down the road...

That would be my guess. The Wilpons are some of the worst owners in sports. Anybody that can't make a huge profit off a New York baseball team should not be anywhere near a New York baseball team. Do you know how many billionaires/hundred millionaires would be lining up to buy this team if it was up for sale?

They might be that, but they also got screwed over by Bernie Madoff

The second big money Ponzi scheme the Wilpons were involved in? I wouldn't call that screwed, I'd call that complicit, lazy, or idiotic.

lol, touche. Thank you sir. In your estimation, would that have been Hembree from the Giants?

lol @ Michael Bourne, you're not getting a $100M contract brotha. You're just not. I love Bourne's skill set, but his agent is going to price him out of every teams' budget.

Maybe Hembree, maybe Blackburn. Not Crick or Stratton.

Traderbation, part 3 -- Nats looking to deal The Beast after acquiring Span.

Vitals

Age -- 30
OPS+, last 3 -- 133, 147, 112
WAR, last 3 -- 1.2, 3.0, 0.6
Contract Status -- 6.75MM in 13

He's a bit of a defensive liability, so it'd have to be LF for him.

Peggs and a non-prospect?

I see Morse in a similar boat to Willingham, great platoon partner with Blanco. I'd take a flyer.

We will have a little bit of resolution on the Wilson subject today, it's the deadline for teams to tender contracts to eligible players.

It's fully expected though that he's going to be non-tendered.
