I am not sure Andy has anything left. He was pretty rough in '11 and basically continued that in '12.

I would prefer Pegs or Kieschnick.

I'd rather have Torres -- even the weak-hitting version from the last two years -- off the bench than Xavier Nady or Justin Christian. He would be a perfect fourth or fifth outfielder -- a switch-hitter with speed and defense in center.

Swish is my third favorite FA OF, after Hamilton and Oxy. I'm not a big Bourne guy.

But Matt Damon is a good actor...:cool2:

But a terrible janitor...always doing equations when he should be washing floors.

I wasn't that impressed with Peguero last year, even though he didn't have a whole lot of playing time to show what he has. That said if Towers comes for $1M or cheaper, I'd love to have him on the bench. At this point, assuming Towers comes back, I think I'd rather see what Kieschnick has over Pegs.

I think I agree on all points.

Unless we can also get Hairston. An OF of Shark/Oxy/Herk/Towers/Hairston would be excellent.

I wasn't very impressed with what posey showed in SF in '08.

My point is that he had 16 ABs in 17 games, with only 3 starts. He was not in SF last year to try out. He was there to soak in the atmosphere of the major leagues.

I am also not sure he will make it. I would just prefer a toolsy 24 yo who may play a role in the future to an aging 35 yo who everyone loves coming off 2 seasons of .650ish OPS.

Let's look to tomorrow instead of yesterday.

I'd prefer to look at today and the day after tomorrow, wherein Torres and Hairston give way to Brown. Tomorrow is less interesting to me, but if SabeySabes goes there I've got to trust him.

Some rumblings that the Yanks may deal Granderson.

Question: what would you give up for him?

Vitals:

31 years old.
OPS+ last 3 years: 108, 142, 116
WAR last 3 years: 4.1, 5.3, 2.7
Contract status: $15MM in 2013, FA in 2014.

Crick and Brown?

Crick and Brown?

I like Granderson a lot as a player. He just scares me as somebody that will not age well or break down early. When a big portion of his game is built on speed and power, he's just somebody that makes me nervous. I don't think (assuming I were GM) I could give up Crick and Brown for him.

I like this trade better of the two, but I think I'd be more inclined to go after Span assuming the price (player wise) was similar to Willingham.

In your opinion tz, what do you think Span would cost from the Twinkies?

Apparently, a first round prospect who is 6-9 with a wipeout slider.

Was Posey with the big league team in '09??? ;)

True, I admitted as much. The kid didn't get a fair shake to prove his worth. I'd just be interested in taking a flier on Towers if he was super cheap (which I assume he would be).

I must admit, that's a pretty good argument for Peggs over Towers. I just personally didn't see much from him. He seemed like an easy guy to pitch to imhumbleo. Then again, in my one time seeing Bumgarner in person in Fresno, I thought he'd be a #3.5 pitcher at best.....so shows what I know.....especially with a SSS! Maybe a ST invite for Towers then? I don't see how that could hurt.

NOOO! :)

If he is given an invite, the fan in me will cheer, and I will trust that Torres' people and Sabean know better than I, and I will be OK with it.

However, given what I think I know now, I say pass.
