WHOOP WHOOP!

I don't care that it's a pre-season game. I'm stoked that the Seahawk season will officially begin today!

You know it's funny you mention this because I honestly completely forgot about that. God the headaches are coming back just thinking about it.

But in all seriousness, I think that the addition of Antonio Winfield will help a lot with this. One of the huge reasons for all of the 3rd and long conversions last year was due to poor slot CB play from Marcus Trufant. There were quite a few times when the Seahawks would go out in the nickel and give up a long 3rd down conversion to the other team's slot WR.

Winfield will help some, but the frustration of the 3rd and longs were more due to lack of pass rush, imo. Seemed like the QB had all day, CBs can only cover for so long before a receiver finds a small crease about a yard past the 1st down marker. The additions of Avril and Bennett should help this.

All last year I heard from announcers talking about how potent the Seahawks pass rush was, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what they were talking about. Clemens was our only consistent rusher, and let's face it, he had every spare blocker our opponents could afford thrown his way. I still don't know where that first half against the Packers came from, nor where it went after, but I really hope that the defense can get more consistent pressure on QBs this year.

Went over to Chargers board here, only ten threads I think. None about tonight's game. Sigh...

Well that's disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing Irvin at linebacker tonight. Hopefully this is just a precautionary thing and he'll be good to go for the next three games before he has to sit for a month. Not having Carpenter out there is disappointing too, but not as disappointing as not having Irvin out there.

Wilson will be out there for 2 series, as will most of the projected starters. This is all about the 2 and 3s trying to get more reps and make the cut and coaches getting film.

Sucks Irvin isn't out there. He needs as many reps as possible before he serves his 4 game ban.

Defense looks flat but at least we're getting a good pinch on the pocket.

SAN DIEGO – The Seahawks just announced a lengthy list of players who not expected to participate in tonight’s preseason opener against the Chargers:

WR Percy Harvin
WR Sidney Rice
WR Bryan Walters
RB Robert Turban
CB Tharold Simon
CB Ron Parker
DE Cliff Avril
DE Bruce Irvin
LB Bobby Wagner
LB Korey Toomer
C Max Unger
OL Mike Person
OG James Carpenter
TE Zach Miller
TE Darren Fells
DE Chris Clemons
DL Greg Scruggs
DL Tony McDaniel

With Unger out, Lemuel Jeanpierre is expected to start at center, while Allen Bradford is the likely replacement for Wagner at middle linebacker. With Rice out, Jermaine Kearse could start opposite Golden Tate at wide receiver. And, Mike Morgan could start at the Leo end spot because Clemons, Avril and Irvin are out.

Giacomini getting bull rushed by Freeney? Kind of funny.

Pretty clear early that SD couldn't care less about this game. CJ isn't even a decent backup.

That's pretty ridiculous. How the hell is he supposed to do to stop on that?

Not too impressed so far. And surprise surprise, it only takes half a quarter for the "quality" NFL referees to blow a call.

Thoughts so far

1) Whitehurst is looking exactly as he did in Seattle.
2) Schofield has been getting pressure, a couple of times already.
3) Bradford is looking decent for a converted RB.
