I admit that I didn't think we'd pick a running back that high and I was a bit confused as to why at first, but it's clear to me now that he was the BPA on Schneider's board. I'm one of those guys who doesn't usually give a strong reaction one way or another about a pick because I honestly don't pay much attention to college football beyond the Huskies and the bowl games, so I wouldn't know who is good and who isn't outside of the guys that get the most press. Beyond that, I trust Schneider and Carroll to pick guys that will do well for this team and I think they've earned that by now. Now that doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized or anything like that, but the "OMG why did they pick this guy" reaction is a bit much. I wouldn't go making the assumption that Turbin is on such solid footing as the backup that a RB pick that high was unwarranted. For all we know, Michael will come in and out-play Turbin to earn that backup spot and get that playing time for when Marshawn gets a little beat up. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach as always.

My sentiments exactly. I will always have an open mind on a pick until he proves he is a bust. Every year I see posts from fans that are shocked about a selection. Whiners!!!
I was surprised we took a RB this early, my guess was probably a 4th or 5th round pick for our new RB but if PC and JS are good with him, I am too.
It looks to me that he will leapfrog RT and become #2 on the depth chart.

swope is still on the board guys! as far as a smart pick, i like chase thomas here. he is the kind of LB we need, he can do everything. i believe he is way underrated. this is our man in this spot. i watched him at stanford, and they shut down oregon. he is impressive!

Either Schneider or Carroll (can't remember which at the moment) said that they're not necessarily drafting players to be starters. With their emphasis on competition, they're drafting players that will either out-work and out-play the previous starters to become starters themselves or at least push the starters we have to become better. Plus it never hurts to have players you're confident in just in case one or more of your starters gets hurt. We should know how this works by now. Schneider picks guys that make everybody wonder what the hell they're doing and most of those players make those who questioned the pick say "Oh, I see why they drafted who they drafted now". These guys aren't the "sexiest" picks available to the Seahawks at any given time, but going "sexy" has never been Schneider or Carroll's style.

But most of the time those questions were right.

None of us on CBS liked the following picks:
James Carpenter: Safe to say this was a horrible pick.
John Moffitt: We reached for him and he has been mediocre at best.
Kris Durham: Oh boy this pick made me lose my mind. There were some who tried to defend this pick but this one made me really go nuts and it turned out to be a bad pick.
Bruce Irvin: You can make the case it was not a bad pick but I still don't like it. Last year he looked lost in run defense and in his start against Atlanta he didn't get any pressure at all. He's still very raw.
E.J. Wilson: Not many of us liked this pick and I have no idea where he is now.

The Seahawks have completely busted on some picks and a lot of picks that were highly criticized were rightly so.

Your negativity is bringing me down. It is constant through this thread.
Please name the GM's have not had picks that became busts in the last 3 years?

I understand what several coug fans believe about Wilson and how they feel about Leach. My disdain for Wilson has nothing to do with being a Husky. I liked having Trufant and love having Unger despite him coming from a team I hate. When it comes to the Seahawks I want the best players to make the team better no matter where they come from.

But in my opinion not being able to take that adversity and do something positive with it makes me question his ability to take the pressure of the NFL. I stand by my view of him and am willing to eat those words if someone picks him up and he does well. I just don't think that day will come.

Wiz, you and I have discussed this at length before. It wasn't mental toughness. If anything he showed great mental toughness when he stuck around in Pullman as long as he did after Mike Leach made it clear that Wilson was never going to be good enough for him. After every single game he would call someone out, even during the Utah fiasco where he made all the lineman come to the stand he still got a jab in there. I hate Mike Leach and it was quite telling (even though it was barely reported) that Jeff Tuel, who loves Washington State, said that if he was granted a 5th year of eligibility it would not be as a Coug. I say it take alot more guts to walk away from becoming the most prolific receiver in the history of the Pac-12 than it does to suck it up and get blamed for every loss while your coach makes a million dollars a win and would rather talk about hunting grizzly bears over trying to make relationships with high school coach's.

He will be a fine pro wherever he gets drafted. Has never had an issue with working hard, never been in trouble with the law, great grades. His lone issue is strength but guys like Sydney Rice, Roddy White and guys in that mold have proven you do not need to be a strong receiver to be a great pro.

I'm being negative because I'm being critical of their picks? Lol okay hold on I'll change my opinion just for you:

Yes guys! We drafted a 3rd string runningback! Hey guys the guy with the cool hair on ESPN said that if he didn't have such bad injury concerns he'd go in the 1st round! Yes! In JS and PS we trust! They couldn't do anything wrong! They are incapable of making a mistake!

Better? Just because I'm not viewing these picks through blue and green glasses does not make me negative.

And you mention the fact that all GMs have made mistakes just proves my point. I get the impression that some people feel as if since the Seahawks front office has found some gems in the later rounds somehow makes them immune to mistakes.

Anyone has to show mental toughness to spend 4 years in Pullman.

Not trolling. I actually agree with what you're saying.

Ironically I think that Marquess Wilson actually compares really well with Sidney Rice. I was surprised he ran only a 4.51. I expected him to run a low 4.4, personally. I honestly feel like Wilson has late 1st round, early 2nd round talent.

My biggest concerns with Marquess Wilson are:
1. Can he beat NFL press coverage?
2. Will his speed translate to the NFL level?

If his speed translates to the NFL level and if he does not have issues with NFL press, he will make a very good WR.

Why do these networks even broadcast the draft on day three, if all they do is ignore everything that is happening

Seahawks select Luke Willson with their 5th round selection. NFL.com has him listed at 6'5 250.

He ran a very impressive 4.57 and 4.46 40 time. Really impressive for a guy of his size.

EDIT: Thought I'd also mention he had a very nice 38 inch vertical and benched 225 23 times. Interesting pick. I like this one.

I'm surprised to see Ryan Swope still on the board. He looked really good on film, has decent size and ran a 4.3.

I missed the Tharold Simon pick, but I did get him at that spot in my mock on cbs, so that's 2 players, and 1 where I took him.

You took Jordan Hill and Tharold Simon right? Or was it Jesse Williams and Tharold Simon?

Jordan Hill. Though I took him at the beginning of the 5th....

I even traded down to #62 with the Ravens, but I took Mathieu there.

Oh, shut up.
I have no problem questioning a pick. Your mentioning it in multiple posts then dredging up past mistakes sounds very trollish.
You sound like a little brat. I had to get away from those bums at ESPN.
