The summer before his senior year at George Washington High in Danville, he took a trip to Auburn with his mother and sister. He fell in love with the place while he was down there.

I told my mom on the way back, I;m going to Auburn Wilson said. While we were driving back, (Tech offensive coordinator Bryan) Stinespring called me on the phone and said, Hey, when you going to come up here and look around.

He visited Tech less than a week later, but when he got to Blacksburg, he was thinking he was going to Auburn. He figured the trip to Tech was nothing more than a courtesy visit, and he would call Auburn***8217;s coaches within a few days to give them the good news.
I just didnt tell anybody, said Wilson regarding his plan to commit to Auburn.

Of course, as detailed in today feature, he changed his mind about Tech once he actually spent a little time on the campus and in the athletic facilities. He remembers riding back from Tech with his mom in silence almost the entire drive.
