The Rangers might be better off signing some guys for one year deals so they can trade them at the deadline.

Good plan if you are planning to lose

I still got a hunch Napoli ends up a ranger.

How would we better off? Next season we would right back where we are now needing multiple positions players plus 2 or 3 starters depending on what we do about Yu. Are you already writing off the season? Talking about signing players for 1 year and then trading them at the deadli7seems to saying that

2017 looks quite bleak at this point. Rotation, CF, 1B and loss of Ian's RBI's is not a picturesque outlook to me. However it is still early.

Because there are not really any great long term options out there short of swinging a trade.

Desmond's 2nd half numbers are easily replaceable.

"Bleak" might be a bit of hyperbole. Obviously none of us should expect the Rangers to have the best record in the AL again in 2017, but we'll have a full year of Johnny Baseball, a very stout 1-2 in the rotation, Beltre, Roogie, hopefully a full year of healthy Choo and Mazara taking the next step.

I would guess they end up somewhere between 80-90 wins, with 90 being if things break well for them throughout the year. It'll be a "down" year, by Rangers standards, but certainly not bleak.

And I predict they will be replaced. Logjam of hitters including EE MT Nap and CC that will dominoe at some point. Definitely will take some creativity likely via trade to upgrade for a SP but we have extra RP and a guy like Odor or more likely Profar to get one via trade.

RANGERS despite rhetoric will not stand pat with Yu and Cole here. And HUGELY a new stadium with big kick in from Arl. There payroll is going up. Tix on increase too

Time to declare. Should Rangers bail this season and sell sell sell at break or should we be patient and see how this plays out.

Never know how things will play out. Not even to pitchers and catchers reporting yet.

It was the first half numbers, aside from the first month that I am concerned about. Guy came up with lots of late inning hits and HR's in that first half last year

He was so money in the first half, it made his second half that much worse by comparison.

It will be interesting to see what he does for the Rockies this season. I never expected him to be as productive as he was in the first half and really expected more of what we got in the second half. Baseball is so frustrating at times when you take a guy having so much success and then see them stink it up for extended periods of time.

I remember being so frustrated w Elvis in the early years, where he had the bad first half's of the year and then really good streaks after the AS break for a couple years there. Glad to see him put together a complete season in 2016.

It does look like the talent level will decline to some degree next year compared to 2016. In 2016 we weren't even good enough to win one playoff game. Bleak may not be a bad way to describe the situation if your goal is to be the best team in baseball and win the WS. If your goal is to try to compete to make the postseason and hope we catch fire at just the right time then bleak is a bad word to describe the situation. Myself, I am wanting to win the WS and not need everything to break just right and get lucky to do so.
