Aka Gamel is a utility player. I don’t care much for losing a utility player because they always remind me of Willie Bloomquist.

But you need utility guys to win a championship. Willie type players are needed on championship teams. We had McLemore and Javier on the 2001. The 04 Red Sox had a bunch as well.

Well, looks like Nelson is going to be "Cruzin" for the Twins in 2019 at this point. The M's are gonna be a whole different team in 19'- a team I'm not sure will be much fun to feel good about. Oh well, that's the Seattle Mariners at their finest.

True, but not with the current state of the M's.... they don't need utility players in rebuilding mode, they need players that can solidify positions long term and contribute when they come out the other side. Only then you start adding in the pieces to help win a championship. Gamel didn't show he could fit into the plan.

14.3mil... which is what he should be getting. Had he been eligible for a qualifying offer, it would be 18mil for the M's to keep him. They we're going to keep him of course.

Its a shame we couldn't get anything for him in a trade or get a comp pick he had awesome numbers from the plate. It seems like even if we had him to trade idk how much we would get for him it didn't seem like a lot of teams wanted to sign him but then again teams are more desperate at the trade deadline trying to make a playoff push then in the offseason. I think he is an excellent player to have at 1 year playing DH.

I don't understand baseball sometimes why would the Rays designate CJ Cron for assignment who blasted 30 homers who is only 28 years old and not go after Cruz and have him hit behind Cron. They were at 90 wins last season

I meant to say they weren't going to to keep him... but I agree with that we missed out on getting something in return for Cruz. The downside of last season was thinking they would compete so they held onto to Cruz at the deadline. He then walked in free agency without being being eligible for a qualifying offer, the M's would've gotten a draft pick in return if he declined the offer.

Cruz last season showed signs of slowing down but he's still capable of blasting 30 HRs and 90+ RBI's beyond 2019. He's an amazing player.

So anyone have any idea how the team might look for next year as of right now?

Bad. Cellar status bad. #1 draft bad. Competing with the Orioles bad, but the O's have a year head start. At this point they still have yet to fill the 40-man roster.

70 win team
I think that's super generous of you.. Dipoto literally blew everything to pieces.
The M's will be better than Orioles, Padres, Reds, Rangers, Royals, Tigers, WSox you think? Those are the teams that won less than 70 games last season.

They won a lot of close games last season thanks in part to the stellar performance of Diaz, we don't even know who their closer is right now. I think this team will be a 100 loss team.

I wouldn't say I'm excited cause I don't think they will be good, I get what you are saying, but I am looking forward to seeing some of the newer young guys play. Its a new chapter for the M's or at least a different chapter. It will be interesting to see how well or bad some of the younger new guys do.

I am too, and willing to pay the prices at the Safe again.....
At least you know your watching kids learn how to win games, not a bunch of vets that are highly paid that don't give damn.
