Jake farley is ok and they can use him
But basicly it seems they gave away
Heredia
And z man and plassmeyer for
Smith
Just does not seem right..seems like they
Overpayed..
Heredia is JAG. He's replacement level. Smith was significantly better than him.
Although platooning them might've made some sense too.
I wonder how much they had any interest in keeping Zunino though, just based on this deal.
I would be ok with it if they did over draft starting
LHP. In june..espesually if they draft waldichuck..st marrys..and A.J Block wash st ..but plassimeyer was good
Whhaaahhh...lololol
i'm surprised they traded an arm who was that dominant. But does he have power stuff? He was 4th round pick, which makes me think not.

There maybe something to that..that in the
End he would be a bull pen guy..but Diaz
Is not a power guy either..even though
He throws 100 mph
Yeah..they have Roberts and Torres who
Did not pitch last year..they may start
Him at low A again
And they have a lot of good Dominicans
Who will be coming up ..but still
They are going to need starting pitching
In in 3=to five years as well
Trading all the minors pitching..is partially
What causes the situation they are in now
I'm a big fan of this trade. I like Mallex Smith a lot and I liked him a lot the first time we traded for him and was sad to see him shipped away.
The Mariners now have a gaping hole at catcher, but Mallex Smith looks to have the ability to be an above average centerfielder for the Mariners for the next 5+ years at a cheap price.
This is a move that I believe improves the team in 2019 and is a positive contribution for the team in the long-run. If Segura and Gordon are both on the team next year (I doubt it), the Mariners will have some incredible speed on the base-paths between those three.
Moving Heredia and Zunino gives the Mariners roughly another $5m in payroll space on top of the projected $11m they had to reach the $171m they spent last year. That puts us at $16m to spend. If the Mariners move Dee Gordon, that would give them an additional $13.3m.
I just don't see that happening.
Look at how many 2B are on the market.
Maybe you can get the Dodgers to take Gordon, but you won't get really anything significant in return IMO
