Yeah..im good with it..as far as gitting
Smith goes..unfortunatly..it leaves one
More guy to get

I think they will go after the best free agent
Catcher..cant remember his name..
Or trade for realmuto

With the Mariners looking to compete in 2020 or 2021, I'm not sure how aggressively they'll be on the free agent market.

The top 4 available free agent catchers are all on the wrong side of 30.

1. Yasmani Grandall (30)
2. Wilson Ramos (31)
3. Martin Maldonado (32)
4. Kurt Suzuki (35)

There's not much on the FA market you want to bank on being still worth their contract in 2021 that aren't named Bryce or Manny.

Segura is the lead off hitter for mariners...for the
Most part...he is..right now the only 3oo hitter

If there are any guys that I would not want to trade

Segura
And
Haniger
Would be at the top of the list

Aside from catcher and maybe even catcher as well

Whoever they get for the lineup..need to be a HR hitter at this point
After ....cruz...they need to make up some
Ground...in that area

Outfield...R/R...cf/lf...or all three
Catcher
Are open..right now

We have already speculated on trades to
Phili and atlanta..so let's do an other
Cincinnati

Try
Paxton and
..Gordon or seagar
For
Garret..LHP
Stephenson..RHP
Then two more prospects
Garret and Stephenson would fill out the rotation for the mariners
And they would still have Hernandez and elias

I think the starting catcher for the Mariners is going to come via trade as a toss in to a Paxton deal or something.

I wouldn't be surprised. Moving Zunino means that the Mariners are going to keep making trades to fill various holes. It should be interesting what happens with the infield.

Could be a very interesting offseason.

This is exactly why I’m so lost on the trade. On one hand it gets them currently better but leaves a gaping hole that isn’t cheap to fill. Two it doesn’t do anything for rebuilding the farm system unless Smith is shipped off to. This move to me, just seems like they should just resign Cruz and trade Gordon for peanuts.

I guess my whole thing is since Pat Gillick left this team has been an utterless ship with no firm direction and this move doesn’t give any one direction and it’s just confusing as hell and makes me want to flash forward to April to figure out what the hell this means.

The emotional part of me wants us to re-sign Nelson Cruz, but what does it matter? We're not contending next year, that's a fact. If by some miracle we're contending in 2020, he has to have regressed by then.

The team has been an utterless ship with no firm direction.

We have the worst farm system in baseball, not very many valuable assets to rebuild that farm system, and we have a ton of money tied up in a regressing 3B on the wrong side of 30 and $24m a year tied up in Robinson Cano whose best days are behind him.

In all honesty, this franchise is a disaster.

I am with you..the only thing I can come up with is..is depoto really wanted Malkin
Smith..so he went and got him..it does make the outfield better..curt Suzuki will work
