You don't think writing books about honesty and high morals, then lying your ass off to further your goals is an embarrassment? I have a problem with that which is different from football. It's more important than football IMO.

No doubt he is a lying mofo.. But I think the majority of Division 1 coaches fall in this category of moral classification.. He was a hella good football coach though, you can't debate it..

Ahhhhhh, I forgot about that one. I try to skip everything Marky Mark is involved in. Except for Thunder Buddies.

I have to go see Lone Survivor. I like true stories, they are so real...

His ability to coach a football team isn't something I question.

So Tressel's coaching career is a true story, his ethics in life are fiction!!

I wouldn't want to overreact, but..... When faced with a choice SweaterVest didn't practice what he preached. Or what he got published. (I once dreamnt of MartyBall here, Tressel is the closest thing we got.)

They will tell you his QB sucked this yr because his WR and TE's either left or got hurt......but yet brady loses WR after WR it seems....not to mention it seems he has had 45 RB's lineup behind him over the years.....but still if the QB puts the ball there, an NFL WR usually will catch it.....torey smith is no bum....ray rice is no bum....

Ray Rice is a bum. He wasn't a couple yrs ago, but he's no lead back anymore. He's not the back he once was. All he has now is name recognition and the ability to be used in a backfield tandem.

As for the Flacco/Brady comparison, there is none. Flacco isn't close to Brady's level. But what Caldwell did with Flacco and co. was noteworthy.

Be careful.....if the lions hire tressel alot of fans will be talking about how great he will be....
Nah, the the majority will be more like.....
Disney-Chicken-Little-Sky-Falling.jpg

I for one am leary of Tressel, but mainly bc we've already had a conservative O-coordinator. But he could be different so I won't write him off, if he's hired, until I see the job he's doing. But I get the hate many would have for him bc he came from OSU and pretty much dominated the Wolverines over his career. I would prolly initially have the same feeling if (insert a number of coaches against ND) came to the D. ;)

Tressel was a great college coach. I do not think his offensive game plan would translate to the NFL. I think he would be more suited to be a head coach with good offensive and defensive coordinators.

If the Lions brought him in as say quality control coach or assistant head coach where his duties are probably more of a administrative type while he learns the pro game then he would be fine. I just have serious doubts how an offense that he ran at OSU would work in the pass happy NFL.

The best QB he ever developed was Troy Smith. And his NFL career has been anything but stellar.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Lions are interested in Chiefs WRs coach David Culley to fill their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Culley, 58, has never been an offensive coordinator at any level. He's currently the assistant head coach and receivers coach with the Chiefs. Previously, he coached the Eagles' receivers under Andy Reid from 1999-2012. In Detroit, Culley would likely be more of a caddy to Jim Caldwell. Another name mentioned by Rapoport for the Lions OC gig is Rutgers OC Ron Prince.

The Wide-9 here to stay?

Jim Washburn, the Wide-9 Guru brought in by Schwartz, has been retained and promoted (in title, anyway) to Assistant DL Coach. Anyone have a problem with that at this point?

The DLine played at a high level last year. But I don't need to see the Wide Nine in every situation, on every play. Both of the Washburns were responsible for the two units on the team which improved the most and are most important. Im glad they're both back.

Levy had a Pro Bowl year last year and the D-Line is our top strength what's the problem. I think we only noticed the wide 9 when KVB was lining up 15 yards off the LT. Ansah showed us how that look is really supposed to work.

I agree.

We talked about this quite a bit this off season. With drafting an inexperienced Player in Ansah it was crucial to get a LB that was competent. They didn't get one. Turns out they had one the entire time in Levy. I don't doubt that the addition of Ansah and his natural abilties is what has allowed Levy to play his position at a high level instead of having to cover his and the DE's. Ansah truly is a beast. Remember getting gashed against the run on the edges? This season the majority of the big runs came from the middle or on reverses/end arounds. I can't wait to see this kid in year two. I heard he is going to work with Suh in the off season. Camp is more effective the 2nd time around as nerves and confusion is eliminated. Can't Wait!

Doesn't matter who they hire. Jim Caldwell is going to run it. I think that's why they are looking at specialists.

Guess we have to disagree about rice.....hes 26.....had 4 straight 1000 yd seasons averaging over 4 a carry every time, while averaging 60 rec a yr for his career.....he had one bad year....wow....i think he had like 200 att this year....id take ray rice on my team.....just last yr he helped win a superbowl....
