Hey Ryan Pace- Denver Broncos and John Fox are parting ways, pick up the phone!! You guys want John Fox?? Yes please.
The Jets signing Bowles is a head-scratcher to me. The Jets got rid of Ryan...who even his critics agree is a great defensive coach...because they needed to groom a young QB, and they hired Bowles, a defensive specialist. I'm not sure I get this move.
oh.... forgot Denver is still open too. Quinn is high on there too.
The fact that Fox has not signed "within 24 hours" has me a little worried. WBBM CB2 brought up a positive scenario that since Fox has coached before (and the Bears have never hired a head coach with previous head coaching experience), and since Pace is new at the GM game, they just want to make sure of all of the contract details.
Still leaves me worried.
Did anyone happen to see that Kubiak (who is my first choice) is flying out to Denver to interview for the head coaching job - this, after telling other NFL teams that he's happy being the Ravens' OC just 3 days ago. Grrrrrr
For grins also did a search on Jon Gruden. Nada. So I did a search on Bill Cowher. Nothing for 2015.
As for Mike Shanahan, saw an interesting clip that Shanny's interested in the Denver job, and that Manning likes the idea.
If nothing with Fox (or anyone else happens soon), there won't be many QUALITY candidates left. Are there?
Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Waddle hired as the OC and Singletary hired as the DC.
RE: Fox - I was on the fence about him. But I did like the Mr. Fix It article which highlighted that he has turned dismal franchises into winning ones. That said, I still was hoping for Kubiak.
RE: Kubiak - I know this is moot since Fox's signing. But how does a guy (Kubiak) go from saying that he wants to remain the Ravens OC on Jan 11th, to becoming the Broncos HC 8 days later?
I'm hoping that Kubiak is going to Denver because he played there and then was the OC there for much of his career. Part of me feels that he refused interest from other teams - particularly the Bears - because of the possibility of having to work with Jay (since many have expressed he is a coach killer). I just hope Kubiak's decision was not based on the latter.
RE: Kyle Shanahan - How does a team (Falcons) hire an OC before they hire a head coach? (Rumor has it Quinn is getting the HC job in Atlanta after the Super Bowl. Just seems like a train wreck way of assembling your coaching staff.) That also means the candidates to take over as OC here are dwindling.
Well, the bears hired their coordinators before trestman, so I guess you know the road Atlanta is going down. The word is that Quinn has taken the job and now its gonna be two weeks til he can start, I am pretty sure he is part of the decision of hiring Shannahan. Shannahan can be ready to go to the senior bowl to start scouting talent. Being that the bears were linked to Shannahan, I am pretty sure Atlanta needed to get him under contract before Fox did.
The Bears did not hire the coordinators before the hired Trestman
