Why do you think he is different than other AAA players?

He went to UTA. Ha!

I don't think he's different. You say he's unproven, which is true, but I don't think he can prove he can hit MLB pitching unless he's afforded the opportunity. He showed he can hit in the minors. I'm of the opinion that if he's one of the best 13 offensive players we have and can help the club, even if only 4 days a week, then he belongs on the roster.

Playing devils advocate: First, fuck the union. If I'm the player, it's my check, my life and my legacy. Second, if the team spends the $50 mil on other players (like say Santana and Morales in this case) then it's left pocket, right pocket. Same amount of money being spent.

But you're right, and I know it. hahaha

Cano's timing on complaining about the lineup is absurd.

I actually laughed out loud at that 'fuck the union' gem. Well done, sir.

He's played all of 132 games at AAA and when someone is only 25 years old you don't want him playing 4 days a week at various positions, and catching splinters the other 3.

We got into this shit the other day and frankly, the Rangers aren't going to make the same mistake with this guy as they did with Profar. Let him go to the minors, and force himself into the conversation of what to do with him. Maybe he'll do this in ST. We'll see.

It is common sense that he could play the OF to get some ABs in place of Martin, Choo, or Rios. That's not an opinion.

If he's not playing every day it's not good enough.

I'm going to trust the FO to make the right decision. You're right that it certainly wouldn't hurt having him play everyday in AAA.

But to play devils advocate myself: how many games do you expect a rookie to play? Like what number would justify a rookie being on the roster?

I probably didn't stat my case well enough. If he were actually playing 4 games outta 6 in say LF, that's one thing. But for him to play 2 games in LF, sit for 3 games, then DH a game, sit a game, play RF for a game, then sit for 3 games, etc. This is a Profar experiment all over again.

Only a few more days until we get some televised games. I'm tired of only being able to listen to them. I've already seen the A's and Angels play 3 times each. I don't know why more aren't televised.

Not enough people care about spring training. Teams aren't trying to win the games, it's just the players warming up and/or trying to make the team.

I think the Rangers automatically claim any Oakland IF put on waivers. :)

The Rangers claimed infielder Andy Parrino off waivers from the Athletics. He hit .118 in 14 games last season with Oakland, spending most of the season with Triple-A Sacramento, where he hit .210.

Not sure about this one but they must have seen something

ST depth, they were going to put Holland on the 60 day anyway, a nothing to see here move

The 28-year-old Parrino is a career .186/.295/.242 in 229 big league plate appearances between the two teams at the Major League level. He's a career .270/.351/.389 hitter in 863 PAs at the Triple-A level and has experience at shortstop, second base, third base, left field and right field in the Majors.

Numbers look much better at AAA level, pretty versatile. Who knows maybe he puts something together

I'm kind of hoping Tepesch earns a rotation spot out of camp. I like that kid.

He stepped right in and was serviceable last year. I'm hoping we see even more maturity out of him this year, and he avoids a sophomore slump (if he makes the rotation).
