I thought I'd create an ongoing thread dedicated to training camp and pre-season news, reaction, discussion, etc…

A place to post any photos taken, or about any experiences we want to share during a visit to Bourbonais for a practice, maybe tips to fellow posters who are going for the first time. And of course, the latest on cuts, signings, player performances, injuries, etc…

Of course we'll still make other individual threads, but this will just be a thread where all of the camp news is condensed together. Or, at least that's my goal. I'll post the updated rosters after cuts are made, signings, injuries, and all of that stuff. You guys obviously post anything you want as well.

I can't believe football season is upon us! LET'S GO BEARS!

Here's to what should be a fun season! It's funny… I don't know what a Bears season would be without some of you guys at this point. I remember Grossman/Griese battles with some of the posters here for christ sakes.

Cheers!

:suds:

So, who's been to camp? What did you see? How was the experience?

Was anyone here around for the fight Eric Weems apparently started, or for the Fuller interceptions?

Being there for the first it was a very cool experience. Now the experience will be an annual event. Getting there early and getting prime seating is key to the experience. Tailgating is allowed and it seemed to be pretty civil. If you have never been there I would recommend going at least once.

Hearing good things about the ST/Kr/Pr kid we took off waivers last year... Also, Fuller is going to be special, great first round pick up. D line is going to beast if they stay healthy and I'm still worried about the safety position.

Oh and USA Today, football prognosticator had us at 11 wins this year.

Saw some footage on comcast last night. They were praising Marquis Wilson since AJ was out with an injury. They showed Marquis reaching back for a ball Cutler threw behind him, jumping and reaching for a ball that was a yard ahead and high for the route. We are gonna have a great year if we get three guys that can catch the ball that is thrown "in the vicinity" of them.

can one of you camp hounds tell us whether they are playing Wilson in press coverage or not, and if there are, how is he doing getting out of it?

I guess you don't watch a lot of football. QBs don't always hit their wr in stride. They invented a name for the ahort tgriws of Rodgers. Its called the" back shoulder" ...

What I've been seeing in tweets is that Wilson is more than just a returner, he runs routes, is fast and gets open, wide open.

Now, that may have been vs. the two's, I'm not sure, but it is sounding a lot like the Devin Hester they were trying to make under Lovie, a shifty fast returner who can actually run routes and catch. I'm 90% sure he makes the team from what I've been seeing in posts.

guess you didnt see the footage, marquis was crossing the center of the field, the defender was on the back shoulder following him, cutler threw it late right at the defender, wilson reached back and caught it. It was not a back shoulder throw, it was a terrible throw.

You dont always have to defend your god cutler. Its what fires up the morons like me and think about it when spunk flowing Gruden says how he put the ball right where it had to be. What is an ahort tgriws anyway? is that a cheese head thing?

That is a great question. I don't know what an ahort tgriws is either.

LOL… I remember when you were trying to say that the game-winning throw to Bennett was a bad throw, and had no idea what a back shoulder throw was.

What a dope.

Yes, I will defend Cutler, and any player for that matter. When he is accused of fucking up where he didn't. It's not my fault you bait people to Cutler arguments with faulty facts/arguments, and then are shocked when people defend him. The only one obsessed is you. You just brought up Cutler in a thread that hadn't even mentioned him.

Talk about "Throwing it into the WR's general area". You should look at your boy McCown last year. LOL

Camp Trip #1

Thursday: Got a late start so arrived about 20 minutes into practice. If anyone has been to camp before they know that the crowds can be difficult to navigate through to get a good sight line for serious reporting. I found a spot in the endzone- I was behind the offense so I focused on that side of the ball today. (the rest of the team was behind the defense so it was almost impossible to see through them.)

First impressions:
Ka'Deem Carey- looked quick and small compared to the Oline when darting through the line. He caught the ball well. One really nice one handed catch thrown behind him, by Clausen, on a swing route. He showed that he could transition really well- catch... get north and south very quick. Later in practice- they had run fits, and he looked quick there too. +

Jordan Lynch- Sorry to report, but he did nothing. Literally he stood on watched most of the day. I didn't notice him with a ball all day until after practice when he worked w/ Fales. Nothing to see. -

Marquess Wilson- looked stronger and made some nice catches. One really well thrown corner route that came right into my lap. Nice move on a no-name DB who almost fell down.

Dale Moss- Who?... 6'3" WR looked pretty good. Got a few ooohh's and ahhh's. Made some nice adjustments from poor throws from Palmer/Fales. Jumped really high. Just a camp body- but on this day he looked good.

Eric Weems- Some time with Cutler/Forte/Wilson... Caught one pass in "team" and one in 2min. Looked quick.

Lance Briggs- looks trimmed up from when we last saw him- the doughnut shaped lump he was in his last game. Seemed to be much the leader on defensive side.

Two Minute Drill: Going away from me- so couldn't see that well, but Jay looked in command and the ball came out really quick- scored both times he had a shot at it- Only one dropped ball- (Marshall) that was on the numbers. TD's to Wilson (about 25 yards out- seem route) and one to Bennett (15 yard option route) Jay was very accurate all day.
I don't know why or what was with the QB rotation, but Clausen got a shot in the 2Min and only had 4-5 plays- no score. two missed passes- he looked confused and held the ball too long- at least one would have been a sack no question. Didn't see Palmer much at all.

Defense: From what I could see:
Jared Allen/Larrmar Houston= STUDS. Allen was VERY fast and disruptive throughout the whole day. You could hear him talking a lot too. With it being practice and early- you don't know how many of his rushes would have been sacks, but I'm betting at least 3 in Team.

Houston- was just as disruptive... filled the hole really fast on in Run Fit. Playing inside a lot today. They both have seemed to have created a celebration jump/high five thing- that was cool to see.

After Practice Notes:
Palmer/Fales: stayed to throw balls to a few guys (Lynch)- Clausen stayed for about 4 passes- the others were still at it there when I moved.

Forte- had a camera crew and a helmet cam on and did some bag drills away from the crowd. Added some impressive push-ups too.

Special Note: Punters- Patrick O'Donnell- Was on the other field w/specialist... there was a slight cross wind and he was still booming it. He's our punter. Bar none. I don't know what they were working on, but Tress Way just didn't have it today. (unless they were working on placement... you never know) O'Donnell also got lots of praise when he walked to LR. Fans seemed to love him.
*Sorry didn't see any long snapping.

I plan to go back next week and focus on the Defense. Today the view was just better to see the offense.

Questions? Comments?

oh... checking my notes: Number 36 on defense Rookie Derricus Purdy ? lined up against Marshall in the slot... it was very comical Marshall towered over him and then toyed with him in run blocking. The kid looked like a little puppy chasing a ball.

Could you imagine trying to make a team and having to line up across from BM to do it. LOL Poor guy. At least when he does not make the team, he won't go home thinking he belongs.

My buddy started his media job with the Bears today! I'm really pumped for him.

He'll be on the sidelines all camp, and for all pre-season and regular season games. He really knows his football too. Maybe he can get me a little insight?

Finally guys… we have infiltrated the system! We have an eyes and ears on the ground! :yahoo:

Martellus Bennett throws Kyle Fuller to the ground after Fuller tried to strip Bennett after a catch. Bennett still screaming at people.

Trestman ends practice early. Angry.

Whoa!
