Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that the Blue Jackets haven't had any contract talks with injured sniper Marian Gaborik who might be traded at a second straight deadline. The Slovenia has missed a fair chunk of the season including six weeks because of a knee sprain and is currently sidelined with a broken collarbone after being pinned between two Philadelphia Flyers in a game on Dec. 21.
Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal says the St. Louis Blues, one of the best teams in the NHL, could use some help between the pipes. He says they won't give up highly touted prospect Dmitrij Jaskin, but former Oiler Magnus Paajarvi could be made available as well as goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Matheson also says the Chicago Blackhawks are looking for a number two centre to play with Patrick Kane.
Decisions, Decisions
Larry Brooks of the New York Post says the New York Rangers have a decision to make when it comes to defenceman Dan Girardi. The 29-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent at year's end. If the Rangers decide not to extend his contract, Brooks believes the Anaheim Ducks or Boston Bruins would be a good fit in exchange for a package of young defenceman.
#1 centre for the Flames ... if Burkie is still using the Leafs handbook ... Ill say 7 shmill per for Stajan
So, do we all agree that the deadline will be a snoozer this year, with the real action coming pre-Olympics?
I don't know, think we will see a lot of action this year.
According to a source close to the situation, the Rangers have spoken with the Winnipeg Jets about their forwards.
It's believed the Rangers are interested in acquiring one of Evander Kane, Blake Wheeler or Andrew Ladd from the Jets, who are open to offers, but would require a significant package in order to part with any of those players.
The Jets have been scouting the Rangers lately, with one representative checking in Sunday night's game against the Washington Capitals.
Ladd and Wheeler each own limited no-trade clauses in their contracts, while Kane is not as protected.
If the Jets part with any of those three forwards, they would require NHL-proven talent heading back their way, which would require the Rangers to include at least one of their young roster players as part of a package.
The Fourth Period :: New York Rangers :: Rangers check in on Jets players
For the short time period you all have known me, should know Kane is my favorite player and I will cry if he becomes a Ranger
A lot of us will
so anyone except the 4 good players on the rangers?
