The owner is basically on his death bed.

He wants a title.

He may just go all in this time.

It appears so. Didn't just beat Darvish's deal, obliterated it.

Nats getting deferrals is their MO.

I think it coutns against the tax as if it didn't but it also means pure cash they'll have more to spend, and some left over to pay the tax.

But whoever buys this team when the dude dies is gonna have a ton of dead weight attached to it.

Surprised to see Corbin to the Nationals, figured he'd go to the Yankees.

wasn't expecting nearly that much, he's only a year removed from being a pedestrian pitcher. that being said, I do think he has the highest upside of any of the FA pitchers especially if he sustains the high strikeout rate. Keuchel's peripherals have been slipping and his K/9 dipped below 7 last year, and he also posted the worst groundball rate since his rookie year (2012).

New Mets rumor is Realmuto. If we could pull off a Rosario-centric trade and then immediately sign Machado that is an infield.

On the heels of Carlos Carrasco’s three-year, $37.5M extension, Cleveland is increasingly motivated to move Trevor Bauer or Corey Kluber, sources tell Yahoo Sports. Plenty of options on the trade market, which is extremely active as Patrick Corbin has signed with the Nationals.

Re: Mets Are Frustrating

Brodie said yesterday in order to sign Machado or Harper they would have to get very creative with moving current contracts, translation, they will not be in play for either one.

I believe they're currently around $142 million with no long term commitments. The fact they won't even attempt to approach $190 million let alone the luxury tax is enraging.

yeah, idk what Seattle is doing there.

how do you get zero prospects and take on an inflated deal?

Philly improves their OF defense by default, moves a guy they never should've signed (because of both age and position), and upgrades at SS.

Just baffling. I know usually you can argue these guys are professionals and know more than fans, but when it comes to the mets and mariners, I'm certain that there are fans out there who could do it better.

SEA and DiPoto are complete idiots,

from Philly, they should have settled for nothing unless it included SP uber prospect Sixto Sanchez.

right now DiPoto and his SEA office fielding hundreds of phone calls per hour from every GM, as they are sharks seeing blood in the water .... LOL, like the old Dave Stewart/ AZ days of bad trades and being ripped off on every off-season deal.

Just makes zero sense why Seattle would deal Paxton or Segura before some of the pitchers sign or Machado signs. Jerry Dipoto is either a complete dipshit (which is my theory) or is getting paid by agents to fudge up the market to get their players paid bigly.

Winter meetings this week, those are always fun. Will be interesting to see how much player movement there is this week.
